Back to the kill…

Under African Skies! Scenes like this play out in Botswana each day. Spending time around a waterhole are some of the best days out one can have.
Age and knowledge, youth and learning. Young male Elephants follow an older bull. There is much for them to learn on these ancient paths.

Leopard love on a rocky outcrop in Savute! Why was this rare? There were actually two males mating with this female and she was accepting both of them. And if that was not rare enough, there was no aggression between the males. Safaris - always something different happening out there!

Reach up! A bull Elephant in search of tasty treats from a Leadwood tree along the Okavango’s Khwai River.
Another super predator found along the waterways of Africa. Formidable and impressive, Nile crocodiles are from a land before time. This individual, feeding on a giraffe carcass, was found in the Okavango Delta. Back in the day, crocodiles here were almost hunted to extinction.
Love is in the air along Botswana’s Chobe River. Observing the mating rituals of Lions is a long drawn out affair that can last for days.
Surrounded! What a crazy hunt in Mashatu in Eastern Botswana. These youngsters had their Mother nearby allowing them to play and chase an Impala before making the kill.

If you want to be around Elephants, then Botswana is the ultimate!
Power! Eye level with a male Lion on a giraffe kill. Clearly possessive over the Lion’s share. The kill itself was an adult Giraffe in the Okavango’s Khwai River.

You gotta love them for their ability to conceal themselves. I wonder how many I have driven past in my life. Leopards - masters of appearing and disappearing!
Love and light in the Kalahari. Isolated thunderstorms make Botswana’s rainy season the best time for photography. In Nxai Pan, two Elephants are silhouetted by a huge passing storm at last light.

Standing proud. A greater Kudu photographed from the underground hide in Mashatu, Botswana. I was after putting the Kudu up against the sky to create this portrait and I could only do this by being extremely low.

Heat, dust and dreams in Nxai Pan, Botswana! The waterhole always delivers incredible sightings of an array of species. Here, an Elephant cow leads her youngster out and away from the waterhole.
From our last safari - 3 days of watching this beautiful male Leopard in Savute - Chobe National Park. He had killed a male Impala and taken the carcass to the top of a tree. I love May safaris as the wildlife and light is just stunning.
Chaos and tranquility at a water hole in Mashatu. This Kudu bull barged his way through a herd of Impala to grab a drink. The underground hide in Mashatu is epic to spend time in to get low down on an array of subjects.
An extraordinary tooth. This bull hippo found solace in a rainwater pan in Moremi. The tooth grew unchecked and to an enormous size! Amazing!
It is just wonderful when an image tells a story. A Leopard and her sub adult cub have feasted on an Impala in the Moremi Game Reserve. The remnants of the kill hang awkwardly and are now almost inaccessible to both of them. It is not long until they abandon the carcass and move on. Stories like this play out each day in the wilderness making each photo safari unique for those who travel here.
Storms in Africa! Botswana is in a gripping drought with little relief. Our safari to Nxai Pan a few weeks ago laid witness to this scene. Although it lasted only one night, it brought tremendous relief for the wildlife.

A fabulous moment with a Leopard cub in the Moremi Game Reserve! Our safaris are off to a good start this year! Next stop Mashuta - can’t wait!
ENDANGERED! African Wild Dog or Painted Wolves hang on by a thread. Botswana is likely the best country to see them. Last year, we hosted a safari with a special interest in spending time with these amazing hunters. Lucky us - a small pack along the Okavango’s Khwai River pulled down a young Kudu bull. Amazing sighting with some great photographic opportunity!
One of Africa’s spiral horned antelope - the Greater Kudu. We watched this male for some time along the Chobe River in Botswana. What impressive horns!
Brothers in arms. A coalition, a brotherhood, a life together. Male Lions stand a greater chance of holding a pride territory together. These two were spotted deep into the Okavango Delta in northern Botswana. In turn, Botswana is home to viable pop**ations of Lions which are high up on travellers wish lists!
