Are you a creative writer? Join our Writer-in-Residence for a workshop tomorrow, 1-3 in room B121. Everyone welcome!
"Altars and Avenues" will focus on creating new writing in a generative and exploratory atmosphere for writers of all interests and levels. This workshop is an open invitation to anyone curious about writing in a setting that draws on creation, experimentation and sharing. Come prepared to write your heart out and learn about the many ways creative writing can be!
We will work through on-the-spot writing exercises and prompts to jolt us out of our habits and cultivate new and unique directions. We’ll connect over what inspires and frustrates us in the process. We’ll read aloud writing that moves us and work through those connections in writing.
Please bring paper, writing utensils, poems and sections of prose by authors who inspire you (to read aloud), and beloved objects for a communal altar.
Welcome back from reading break, fellow writers! We're back at it with another Writer's Circle today! B162 from 3 to 5:30, come hang out. We'll be having another WC on Thursday at 5:30 in the same room, so hopefully we'll see you there!
Is this you? Then come on by our book sale today! We are here until 8:00pm!
The Handmade Paper Roses are selling well!
Valentines day is next friday!
Individual: $4
1/2 Dozen (6): $20
Come get yours for your love before they're gone!
Only 4 groups of 6 remain, or 24 individual!
Our sale is underway!
Come by the Library Atrium where we will be selling used books and hand-made paper roses! If you need another book or two to fill a gap on your shelf, or want a rose for Valentine's Day that will last forever, then we have what you need.
And a special thank you to The Book Man and Hemmingway's Books, without whom this sale would be a shadow of how it is today!
See you there! 🌹📚
We are at Campus Engagement! Come to Evered Hall between 11 and 2 to chat about our association, put your name in the draw for some books, and learn about our upcoming events.
Update! Due to some nearby construction, some of our events are being moved from room B162 to C1402D, including the general meeting scheduled for today at 5:30. This will affect the events on our schedule up to February 22nd, and we will update the events calendar accordingly. The times of the events will remain the same.
This will not affect the book sale happening early February, which will still take place in front of the Library doors in the G building atrium.
Thank you!
Hey folks, exciting news!
Our good friends with the UFV Music Association are hosting a classical and jazz music festival this weekend! They've been working very hard for this, and it promises to be a fun time. If you need a break from all the studying, consider spending an afternoon listening to wonderful music. They'll have food trucks on site, and entrance fee is by donation!
January 25th, 3-7:30pm, room B101.
Today is our first Writer's Circle of the winter term! From 3-5:30, join us in B162 as we discuss how the workshoping will go. No pressure to bring any writing with you, just come by and hang out for a couple hours with us. If you can't make it to the workshop today, we are also hosting a Writer's Circle this Thursday from 5:30-7:30 in the same room. Take a look at our schedule of events posted to our page for info on future meetings. See you there!
Welcome back, fellow writers! We have finalized our events calendar for Winter 2020, and have lots in store for you!
Our bi-weekly writer's circles are back! Join us every other Monday and Thursday for some workshop feedback on your creative writing. There are a number of social events, where we get the opportunity to hang out, do some mad libs, and just have a good time. Finally, what's Valentine's Day without a rose sale? Well, being writers, we thought it would be more appropriate to sell roses made out of paper alongside a book sale!
More info to come on these events, but for now take a look at our calendar of events and save the dates!
Join us in welcoming our Winter 2020 Kuldip Gill Writing Fellow, Adèle Barclay! January 21, 11.45am, room B132
Welcome back, fellow writers! The winter term is well underway, with a fresh dusting of snow to help it along. We hope you had a wonderful break (though we all know it wasn't long enough, right? 😉). Stay tuned for a schedule detailing the events we have planned out this term, including the return of the biweekly writer's circles, a couple of social events, and another book sale! Drive safely! ❄️
Thank you to everyone who came out for our winter social, the highlight was certainly making these unique snowpeople! We have Garth the snowball bully, good ol' Bruce, aging UFV alum Bernhard and his loyal pup Ralph, and finally the adventuring family of Josh, Cleo, and Marcie. We hope your Fall term concludes wonderfully, and we can't wait to see you in the Winter!
Also a reminder that the Creative Showcase is happening THIS Thursday! Bring your friends and family along to Evered Hall at 5pm and enjoy an evening of creative expression.
Thanks everyone!
Today is the day for A Merry Little Winter Social! Seeing as it's so chilly outside, join us inside in the Student Life Lounge at 4:30 for some snowperson-making, good-cheer-having, game-playing fun!
Good evening, writers!
The s-word hasn't fallen just yet, but we are preparing for a cozy evening! Next week Monday (the 2nd), CreWri will be hosting our annual winter social event. This year, 'A Merry Little Winter Social' will be held at 4:30pm in the Student Life Lounge of the SUB building. We will be enjoying some movies, board games, and building our own snowpeople! All are welcome. Bring your friends as we finish off the winter term with a relaxing evening of company. See you there!
