SSU Soccer U13GA IModel Team

Last night, we celebrated the end of a marathon IModel season that began on April 6th. For the second year in a row, our girls finished 1st in their division—HDSL last year and IModel C2 this season.

Through perseverance, determination, and heart, they overcame the challenges of the season, from unexpected player departures to injuries at key positions. Every win was earned, and their first-place finish is a testament to their resilience.

We would like to thank the parents for everything they did to make this season happen, without you none of this would have been possible.

It is that time for SSU's Indoor Soccer program to kick into full gear. This year we are bigger than ever, switching to SATURDAYS for Recreational Indoor, which will allow for more opportunities for our soccer families.

Now, for our 2024-2025 Indoor Season, we are excited to announce that SSU's Indoor program will introduce GIRLS ONLY (Dedicated Boys Only and Girls Only) divisions for U4, all the way to U12.

Session 1, which starts October 19th, will have it's registration open up on September 16th at 9am. Registration will fill up fast, so do not delay and register right away!!

Big thank you to these 3! Emma, Tessa, & Mckayla. Without them our Outdoor Rec season wouldn’t have been possible! We will miss Emma & Tessa for indoor as they head back to school. Mckayla will be out for indoor which we are super pumped about.

Year End GS Gaston Parking- Sat Aug 24 & Sun Aug 25

In addition to our designated regular parking lot, there will be two additional cut fields that will be open for us to use. Signage will be posted to help showcase these parking lots and details can be found below:

1.) When you first enter GS Gaston and onto the dirt path, there will be additional parking in the cut field to your right.

2.) When you enter the gates, to your left will be an entrance to another cut field, that will be used for parking.

*Important* Players playing on the South fields, are asked to try and park in the designated regular parking lot. Players playing on the North Fields, are asked to try and park in the two additional fields mentioned above.

Please review the tips and map provided. Help us all stay safe and so families are able to leave the parking area when needed. Thank you!

Additional Tips
- Do not block other cars in. Respect other SSU members.

- Allow extra time to find parking and walk to your designated fields.

- Watch for children.

- Park as close to the wooden posts as possible.

- one row against the wooden posts on north and south, two rows buddied up to each other in the middle.

- Park along the lane way on the side/grass areas.

- Keep the flow of cars all going one way.

- Please drive carefully on the grass and park in rows, not blocking anyone in.

Important Reminder for Our SSU Community

Due to recent events, we find it necessary to reiterate that referee abuse will not be tolerated at SSU. We expect all parents and spectators to set a positive example by demonstrating respect and sportsmanship at all times. If you feel that you are unable to manage your emotions on the sidelines, we kindly ask that you step away from the field until you are able to return with a calm and supportive attitude. Let’s work together to create a safe and encouraging environment for our children to enjoy the game.

On August 16th members of both our U13BA & U15B teams volunteered to help with the annual Angus Food Bank Back to School event.

Backpacks filled with school supplies were given to the local community.

Small sided games were set up by our volunteers.

Our U16 Girls won the U16 HDSL Final Cup game Saturday against Muskoka. The final score was 4-0.

Quote from Coach Bob: “I am so proud of these girls. We had a beat-up group who somehow managed to pull it off. Thank you to all of our very supportive parents. Best girls, best parents!”

Congratulations ladies on all of your hard work this season! So far we are undefeated with 3 more games to go!!!

We are the U14G HDSL Cup CHAMPIONS! SSU's U13 Competitive B Team brought home the CUP with a 1-0 win over Collingwood on Saturday. The girls have played a lot of soccer in the last 8 days and with each game they have proven to be the better team. At these cup finals, they started off slow, but when coaches asked players to evaluate their game at half time, they turned it on and pulled out a much deserved win! This team is the youngest on the field (with most players still 2 years younger) and yet they have proven time and time again that they deserve to be there. Way to go girls, we are so very proud of you! A big congratulations goes out to Kim, Tom, and Grace for successfully and skillfully coaching this team to be the best that they can be.

U13GB sends congratulations out to U16G on their cup win too! Hooray for SSU!

With Gala day less than a week away we wanted to remind everyone that our young officials are learning and growing, just like the players on the field. Every game is an opportunity for them to be better than they were the game before.
Together, we can ensure our community's youth enjoy a positive and supportive environment on and off the field.

Congratulations to our SSU U13G and U16G teams for winning the HDSL Cup Championship yesterday! Despite tornado warnings, downpours, and intense heat, both teams showed incredible determination and resilience.

A big thank you to our U13G coaching staff—Kim, Tom, and Grace—and our U16G coaches, Bob and Keith. Your guidance and support were crucial in this achievement. Female empowerment at its finest! 💪

Monday the U16 Girls took to the field at home against Barrie. The girls played a very good pass and play game. They took the lead early in the first half and never looked back! BARRIE pressed hard but our defense worked together and foiled any attempt. Was a great back and forth game of possesion & the girls managed a 3 - 0 win.

Tuesday they played another game this time in Collingwood. The girls took an early lead but Collingwood answered with a goal shortly after to tie the game. Was a physically demanding game and play was fierce. The second half came about and the girls were determined. They came out and scored 3 more goals to take the win! The girls played with heart and determination. The girls walked away with a 4 - 1 win!

Great job by our coaching staff and players !

1 2 SSU LETS GO !

Our U16G team took to the fields in North Bay for two games over the weekend. The girls were full of energy and had soccer on their mind! The girls came out and struck first in the net versus the U15 North Bay Team! Amazing teamwork and leadership on the field, the girls played to a 6 - 0 final score in game one!

After a 2 hour break the girls took to the field again to play the U16G North Bay Team. The second game the weather had changed and they were now playing in chilly temps, but that didn't phase out the hot streak these girls have been on! The girls played a strong pass game and again found themselves on the top end of a 7 - 0 victory!

Was a tremendous team effort from the girls and our coaches! The season is coming to a close and the girls look to take these wins into their next week of games!

The SSU U13 Girls B Competitive Team travelled to Niagara Falls this weekend to play in the AC Douglas Tournament. These girls played hard and came away with a solid 3rd place finish in their division. They worked as a team, passed well, defended their goal and outplayed all three teams they met. Congrats to the girls for their hard work, our keeper for 3 well deserved shutouts and our coaches for well scripted play all weekend. We are so proud of how strong and strategic they are. This team is truly UNITED! Way to go U13GB.

It is that time of the year for our YEAR END EVENT - The 2024 Fisher Fest! Named after our former President, Gord Fisher, who had a huge impact on the formation of SSU, who we sadly lost last year.

We have so much planned for everyone and we cannot wait for you to celebrate the end of a wonderful season with your families, teammates, coaches, and the SSU staff!

Please remember to bring cash for any food items and be mindful of others in the parking lot!
