As home builders, we recognize the value skilled trades bring to our industry, economy and society. That is why when we came across 's recent article highlighting the importance of trade apprenticeship programs, we thought it was a vital subject to speak on. The skilled trades industry faces an unprecedented shortage, with the Conference Board of Canada estimating a need for half a million workers in the next ten years. A lack of apprenticeship programs, qualified teachers, and stigmas around a career path in technical trades exacerbate the issue. Despite offering high salaries and high employment rates, skilled trades remain undervalued. At .aurora.newmarket, we're proud to support the Specialized Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program and the Ontario government's efforts to introduce Grade 11 students to full-time apprenticeships. Our program aims to promote apprenticeships and support initiatives that help bridge the skills gap. With a new open-plan living area, a sleek kitchen and bar, and even an at-home gym down the hall, this basement has everything our homeowners need to relax, entertain, and stay fit. And the cherry on top? That tray ceiling you see adds a touch of style while cleverly hiding the support beams, giving the area a clean and sophisticated feel.
