β¨ Getting to know our artists - Lynne Vegter β¨
We asked Lynne - What techniques do you use to achieve texture and depth in your acrylic paintings? She replied...
"I paint in oils, I like its intensity and texture. I often side-load the brush with two colours to blend on the surface, to texturize wood and trees. My trick for creating depth is to layer in darker colours and contrast by glazing in transparent lights to intimate subtle shapes within the shadows."

β¨ Getting to know our artists - Chas Burke β¨
As a professional musician and artist, I explore the intersection of art and music through quantum physics. Inspired by the Impressionist teachings from the Cape Cod School of Art, I paint with oil for its flexibility and durability. My work reflects an emotional response to nature, translating the harmonic structures of J.S. Bach into visual elements: hue as pitch, chroma as volume, value as timbre, and medium as orchestration, all rooted in the harmony of nature. π²π
We asked Chas - What techniques do you use to achieve texture and depth in your acrylic paintings? He replied...
"The only thing I can add is that if the acrylic paint is dry and you want to create a misty effect you can use methyl hydrate to remove some of the paint. Though it has a smell, it dissipates quickly. It can be purchased at Home Hardware."

β¨ Getting to know our artists - Harry Langford β¨
We asked Harry - What techniques do you use to achieve texture and depth in your acrylic paintings? he replied...
"Lately, I've been incorporating a gel medium additive to my acrylic paint to give it a 3D effect. It works great as I can add layers of colour and dramatically alter the look and feel of the painting. I also find the gel doesn't tone down the pigment, which is great."

This May we have the works of Jane Hall in the Annex Gallery, with opening reception scheduled for Saturday April 4th, 12 pm - 3 pm. Come see the new show - Journey Through Nature Art Exhibition. ππΌ
Jane works primarily with an assortment of brushes and pallet knives to apply thick, lush oil paints to a black canvas, resulting in paintings with rich textures and brilliant colours that bring her vision of the natural world to life.
Jane invites the viewer to enter her paintings, to smell the trees and hear the water moving, to feel the wind blowing against their face, to return to moments of beauty and tranquility helping them reconnect with nature, taking them back to special a moment or pleasant memory.

β¨ Getting to know our artists - Seth Maceyβ¨
Can you describe any unique experiences or challenges you encountered while capturing your photographs? He said...
"Wildlife photography involves striking out most of the time. Accepting that 98% of attempted encounters won't meet expectations is essential. Embracing the process, enjoying the outdoors, and persevering through doubts of wasting time are crucial. Patience and appreciation amplify the rewarding moments amidst hours of waiting and searching."
