Wallwin Electric Services Ltd. recently completed a PLC modernization at Larsen & Shaw Ltd. Larsen & Shaw Ltd. is a high-quality custom hinge manufacturer located in Walkerton Ontario. Wallwin Electric Services Ltd. designed and completed the modernization the PLC’s on the rack plating Line. State of the art Rockwell Automation hardware was used, and Wallwin Electric Services provide a seamless transition to the new equipment.
New Ethernet communications were added to the variable frequency drives and larger operator screens (HMI) were added along with a new laser positioning system.
Wallwin Electric Services Ltd. is proud to work with the Larsen & Shaw Ltd. on the proactive improvements to their equipment.

Wallwin Electric Services Ltd. is thrilled to be a member of the validation team for the Barrie Operations Center revitalization project with the City of Barrie, Chandos Construction, RDHA (Architectural), AECOM (Construction Engineering), LEA Consulting Ltd. (Engineering), and Kelson Mechanical.
This project is using the Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) method and Wallwin Electric Services Ltd. is honoured to be part of yet another IPD project with the City of Barrie.
This project includes the rehabilitation of a 50-acre site including building replacement, upgraded storage areas, greenhouse, and a NET zero energy goal.

Another excitting project for Wallwin Electric Services Ltd.! Wallwin Electric Services Ltd. is thrilled to be working with DW Tuck Construction and EME Engineering INC.
Work is just beginning on this new 5000 sqm facility for Speedy Transport at the corners of Bayview Ave and Big Bay Point.

Wallwin Electric Services Ltd. along with the Barrie Construction Association is pleased to award Tyler Moore with the Jack Wallwin Memorial Bursary Award. This $1000.00 bursary is an annual award offered to a student who is enrolled in a construction apprenticeship program, construction technology, construction engineering (degree) or any other construction related post-secondary program.
Wallwin Electric Services Ltd. is committed to supporting and encouraging young people to consider entering the skilled trades. Promoting skilled trades to young people will ensure our future is strong.

Another great day of training for the electrical apprentices at Wallwin Electric Services Limited. We had a great turn out and the training was focused on electrical meters, testing equipment, basic motor controls, wiring and diagnosing faults for electric motors both single and three phase.

This motor training will be used during the apprentices three-month training period in our motor shop. While working in the motor shop, training will not only include the testing and diagnosing a motor or pump fault but training on the full repair of each. Motor rebuilds including rewinds, bearing replacements and balancing. Pump repairs will include gasket, impeller and full pump replacements.

Wallwin Electric Services LTD over saw the planning, organizing of the trades as construction managers and directed the successful completion of the boiler replacement project at Sunset Manor, for the County of Simcoe.

We would also like to thank our partners, NorthStar Engineering, Honeywell controls, Carmichael Mechanical and our staff for their commitment to our customer.

Jack Wallwin Memorial Bursary Award

Wallwin Electrical Services Ltd. is pleased to award a $1000 bursary to a student enrolled in a post-secondary institution or construction trade apprenticeship.

This bursary will be presented to a student who has graduated or is graduating with a minimum of Grade 12 or equivalent and has demonstrated a combination of academic and trade merit and have a financial need.

The student must be enrolled in a construction apprenticeship program, construction technology, construction engineering (degree) or any other construction related post- secondary program.

Women make up nearly half of the entire Canadian workforce, but the perception still exists that certain jobs – particularly those in the skilled trades should only be done by men. In reality, women excel in all traditionally male-dominated careers, with proper training, there is no reason a woman can’t be just as physically fit, determined, confident and capable of operating the same tools and machinery as their male counterparts.
A significant percentage of women have successfully completed their apprenticeship programs but still drop out before their tenth anniversary in the trades, stating that employment discrimination caused them to consider leaving their careers.
With a looming shortage of skilled trades workers, Wallwin Electric Services LTD knows we need to get past the stereotype and create a respectful, welcoming workplace free of harassment, bullying and discrimination. Wallwin also recognizes the need to employ a more diverse workforce by supporting and encouraging the hiring and training of women in the trades.
Wallwin Electric Services LTD is proud to have Jane Penchion who has worked with Wallwin for 16 years as a fully licensed electrician, Amber Edwards who is a 1st term apprentice, Alyssa Reed who is a co-op student but as of November 21st will become a 1st team apprentice and Sierra Piggott who is a 4th term apprentice as part of the team!
Remember these changes won’t just attract more women, they’ll make the trades better for everyone. A respectful workplace is a worker’s issue not a women’s issue.

All the apprentices (and some electricians) coming together for another great training day at Wallwin Electric Services. Training on this day focused on pipe bending both manual and hydraulic benders. We are glad to see such a diverse group of young people interested in the trades!
