The living wage for our region is calculated by the Ontario Living Wage Network based on community-specific data about the common expenses of family units and single individuals. Living Wage Employers, like Busch, voluntarily pay the living wage and maintain their certification as new rates are calculated for their area.

Meet Atmawati.

Atmawati is a 42-year-old collection community member, working alongside her husband Asis in Bali, Indonesia. She is a Plastic Waste Collector with to help save our oceans, and improve her family’s livelihood.

Since becoming a Plastic Bank collection member, Atmawati has received increased income, BPJS Health Insurance, a tablet for her daughter’s online schooling during the pandemic, and grocery vouchers.

Our team put in some hard work this morning planting trees with to help them reach their goal of planting 10,000 trees in Barrie! Living Green's Action for Climate in May is "Plant Trees" as trees absorb carbon and release oxygen.

Are you a Sustainability or Facility Manager at a post-secondary institution in Canada or the US? We need your input!

Busch Systems is excited to partner with CURC, National Wildlife Federation, Zero Waste Campus Council, Campus Race to Zero Waste, and the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) to announce a new survey project. We're looking to document trends like the adoption of uniform bin standards and centralized collection arrangements at colleges and universities.

So, we want to learn all about how YOUR campus organizes indoor waste and diversion collections! With this brief multiple-choice survey, our goal is to gather the data and lessons-learned needed to help organizers advance the best-practices that often face institutional resistance.

We encourage as many higher institutions as possible to participate, whether or not they’ve adopted specific practices. A sustainability or facilities manager would be a great lead person to complete the survey, but anyone with direct knowledge of their campus’ waste operations has valuable insights to share!

As a follow up to our January healthcare reuse webinar, Busch Systems invited healthcare sustainability expert Erika Kimball to engage with and offer direct advice to attendees of this special open-format program. In place of a prepared presentation, participants were invited to ask questions or share specific challenges and have a real-time conversation about possible solutions.

Impromptu questions were asked and answered live, while interested participants were also pre-selected to discuss their questions based on the details provided on the registration form.
