Last year, she asked her friends and family to bring a food donation instead of a birthday gift to her Birthday party, resulting in an amazing 86 lbs of food for the Barrie Food Bank. This year, she made the same request but put the challenge out to raise even more and helped her to raise an incredible 247 lbs of food! 🤯👏

🍂 Fall Campaign Update: We're Almost There! 🥧

As we reflect on Thanksgiving, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to our incredible community. ❤️ While we set an ambitious goal for our Fall Campaign—$250,000 to meet the rising needs of our neighbours—we came in just one slice shy of a full pumpkin pie, landing $50k (20%) short. Though we missed our target, we still count it as a win, having raised 9% more than last year!

And the great news? 🥳 Thanks to the generous support of schools, service clubs, community food drives, and grocery store pre-packaged bags, we exceeded our food donation weight goal of 150,000 lbs, coming in at 150,877 lbs—an incredible 28% increase from last year! 🎉

But our work isn't done just yet. 🍁 We've extended our campaign until October 31 to give us one last push to reach our financial goal. Every contribution made between now and the end of the month will ensure the 7,000+ neighbours who rely on us receive consistent, equitable food support.

Thank you to the 15 Simcoe County case workers who visited the Food Bank! They toured the facility and learned about access to our services which is especially important for the clients we share! 🤝

We're so glad work collaboratively in efforts to provide resources to individuals and families in our community who are in need, and to support them on their journey towards well-being. ❤

Channeling our inner Les Nessman, this Thursday Oct 10, hundreds of people will gather to witness what has been described as perhaps the greatest turkey event in Thanksgiving Day history. All we know for sure is that in a very few days there are going to be a lot of happy people out here. 🦃⬇️

A HUGE shout out to two amazing local companies for keeping things flowing smoothly at the Barrie Food Bank! Our friends at Hustle & Flow and EMCO Barrie saw that our staff washrooms were in dire need of an upgrade. Thanks to their skills and generosity, we now have TWO brand-new toilets! 🙌

While we typically do without upgrades (we’d rather use our funds to feed the community), these plumbing pros knew just how much it would make a difference for our 215+ volunteers, and we’re all feeling much more relieved! 😅

School Fuel is back! 🍏📖 Meet our incredible volunteer team: Marie-Jose, Mike, Albin, Rosetta, and Claudia who distribute nutritional snacks to 22 schools in Barrie!

When children go to school hungry it has a profound impact on their energy levels, concentration, creativity, and behaviour. School Fuel provides a diverse range of items that give kids the essential nutrients they need each day! ☀️

🦷 Madison is our *floss-some* hero of the day! 🦷

A huge thank you to Madison Elliott for organizing a community Dental Supply Drive in support of the Barrie Food Bank! Her passion for oral health, and her appeal to Barrie area dentists, led to an amazing haul of nearly 1,500 toothbrushes, tubes of toothpaste, and floss! 🪥✨

Good dental health is so important, especially for those in our community facing financial hardship. Madison’s efforts are helping to bring brighter smiles and healthier lives to those who need it most.

🔥 Heartwarming Alert! 🔥

We are absolutely blown away by the generosity and creativity of young Aria (Grade 1) and her little brother Milan (just starting JK) who recently turned their driveway into a donation stand to raise money for Barrie Food Bank! Just like a classic lemonade stand, but with a twist - firewood! 🌲💛

With a little help from their dad, Avi, who cut the wood, these two superstars stacked and sold firewood, raising an incredible $193.25 to help families in need.

Aria and Milan, you have shown us that big hearts come in small packages and that anyone, no matter their age, can make a difference in their community! You’ve warmed our hearts more than any fire ever could. Thank you for showing us all the power of small acts of kindness! 🔥❤️

A huge thank you to Mom and Dad for planting the seeds of kindness and generosity from such a young age. By teaching Aria and Milan the importance of giving back, you’re nurturing a new generation of compassionate community champions.
