A great thanks to NB Badminton Association and the organizor for the amazing tournament organization and arrangement. Badminton New/Nouveau-Brunswick

The final day of the Atlantic Championships, the last competition of this season, concluded all matches today. Among the 20 events in four categories, athletes from JBTC (NS+PEI) made it to the finals of 17 events and ultimately won 13 of them. In this final, a total of 25 athletes from NS JBTC participated, and they achieved 12 championships and 6 runners-up in the end.

In the U15 category, although our young athletes did not perform as perfectly as expected, their performance was still commendable. They won the girl's single, boysโ€™ double, and mixed double championships, as well as a silver medal in the women's doubles event. Most athletes in this age group have a relatively short playing experience, and their skills and mentality are not yet stable, so itโ€™s normal to make more prone to unexpected occurrences during competitions. Starting to participate in competitions at this age can also allow children to experience the relationship between success and failure at an early age, learn to face failure and their own shortcomings, and have the courage to challenge difficulties while continuously improving themselves. Therefore, regardless of the outcome of the competition, it is a valuable experience for children and beneficial for their physical and mental health and growth.

The U17 category has the highest number of participants and the most intense competition among all age groups in this competition. Some of our participating team members have shorter playing experience and started relatively later, but because of their love for badminton and their diligence in completing the training tasks assigned by the coach (such as some practice at home), their badminton skills have improved significantly in a short period. As a result, they were able to catch up with and surpass most of their peers, demonstrating impressive competitiveness in the competition. However, due to their late start, compared to other peers, they still exposed weaknesses in their lack of competition experience and cognitive gaps in how to make reasonable use of their learned skills. Therefore, in this age group, our club's athletes only won the girl's single championship and the boysโ€™ double runners-up. However, compared to the results, the experience gained during the competition was the greatest reward for these athletes.

Moving on to the U19 category, this is the group that makes the coaching staff most at ease. Our young players aged 13-15 years old have shown an outstanding level of dominance in this category, despite being younger than their opponents. They have won the championships in all five events, including boy's single, boysโ€™ double, girl's single, girlsโ€™ double, and mixed double, as well as taking the runner-up positions in girl's single, girlsโ€™ double, and mixed double. Every final match was exciting and captivating, drawing the attention of the spectators due to the high level of competition and performance. In addition to our super young players, there were also a few eligible athletes from the club who participated in the tournament. Though they trained hard and made significant progress, they started too late to match the technical skills and competition experience of the super young players who have undergone years of badminton training and participated in numerous national-level tournaments. Nevertheless, they found their own brilliant moments during the matches, enjoyed the competition process, faced failure with a more mature attitude, and continued to learn. We believe that they will make rapid progress and gradually catch up with their opponents in the future.

In the open A group competition, the club's "big sister" Ritu teamed up with our young coach Katherine to win the women's double championship. At the same time, Ritu also won the women's single and mixed double championships, becoming the triple crown champion of the competition. Another triple crown champion was Cinra Mei, who won the women's single, women's double, and mixed double championships in the U19 group.

In the final of the tournament, based on the results of each match, the organizing committee calculated the points and awarded the title of the best province in the Atlantic Provinces Badminton Tournament to the NS province. They also highly appreciated the contribution of our JBTC club in promoting the development of badminton in the Atlantic provinces. Thus, the 2022-2023 badminton season in the Atlantic Provinces has come to an end. We look forward to seeing more players on the court in the new season starting in September

The tounament is confirmed to be cancelled.๐Ÿ˜ž
NS players have very good performance in Atlantic tournaments, but BNS doesn't have capability to host an Atlantic tournament, that's making NS players so disappointed!!!

Due to circumstances regarding availability of operationally required items such as, shuttles, gym space and time, and local hotels, sufficient resources were not in place to host an Atlantic Series Event to the standard and expectations that our Badminton Community deserves and has come to expect/enjoy.

This event is therefore not being reschedule but CANCELLED.

The Final Atlantic Series Event "ATLANTIC CHAMPIONSHIPS "will be held in Moncton later this spring and information regarding that event will be communicated by Badminton New Brunswick as updates are available
