She was so joyful and fun and caring and so my second thought was "I need to find out what she does to have that kind of energy."

This marathon meant so much to me because in crossing the finish line, I left behind who I had been, and ran into who I wanted to be. I left behind depression.
Itβs World Mental Health Day, and it's time I share my story.
Eight months prior to this photo, I was depressed. (But this isnβt a story about running.)
Two years prior to this photo marked the first time I went unmedicated through depression.
I had been on medication once before. The medication changed how my brain worked, and I would become aware of doing something only after having done it.
I knew through depression I couldnβt control my mood. But I learned through medication that I at the very, very least was in control of my actions. And the medication took that control away from me. So I, for my own mental health, needed to get off of them.
My biggest fear was that I would hurt someone by accident, and realize I had done it only afterwards. At least when I felt s**tty all the time, I could think through and choose what I wanted to do, before Iβd done it.
I had been told that if that particular medication didnβt work for me, there were no other safe options for people my age.
When depression hit the second time, I was so scared of brain-changing drugs that I never considered them. Feeling stuck in a cycle of awful thoughts and a perpetually-exhausted body felt better to me at the time then losing the last control I felt I had: my actions.

Getting clear on this one thing can lead to a happier life.
I'm guilty of being a little indecisive π€. It's something I'm working on getting better at but becoming clear on my values has helped a lot .
When you know what's most important to you it helps to clear away confusion and helps you to make more aligned decisions π₯°ππ«π.
Small moments to yourself make a huge difference. My soul has been seeking time to myself and today I finally said yes . My bed was comfy and but I knew I need to get back to me the in the morning before the day takes over . So I got up and hour earlier . I'm so glad I did π. I feel so great and had time to meditate for more then ten minsππ π , plus to journal and sip my HOT coffee and watch the sun come up π. Ahhhhh....now I'm ready for whatever the day brings. Sometimes we forget ourselves especially as moms and I'm here to remind you that it's not only nice to do it's needed ! βοΈπ
The hardest part about change is not making the same choice as you did the day before.

I am all for being informed from the news...but like for a minute, and not bad news on repeat all day everyday.
The images we surround ourselves with is so important and effects us on an energetic level.
Have you ever noticed how you feel when you watch it too much...it's depressing...right?
Don't get me wrong. I care about what's going on in the world, but I also care about my energy, and so I ensure I fill my mind with the good .
That includes what I watch, what I listen to and who I surround myself with.
There is so much good going on in the world if you look for it!I
It's all about what you FOCUS on:)
Train your mind to notice what's going right ....notice the love...notice the kindness of strangers...notice a smiling child:) It's all around us ! Choose to focus on love and it will come back to you!

After finally feeling like I can move again , I have a new appreciation for my body. It's no surprise to me that I pulled this card today .πππ

Last night after Sophia went to bed I spent an hour looking through travel magazines and sipping the red wine ! π My mom is from Portugal . The Azores in particular. She hasn't been back since she was 13 ! It has always been my dream to take her there :) . If you could travel anywhere in the world , where would it be?
This program is near and dear to my heart because when I was a kid and well into my youth, I struggled with anxiety, and low self esteem. Fear pretty much ran my life and my decisions.
It wasn't until well into my late twenties that I began my spiritual growth journey. During this process I was gifted the push and Inspiration I needed to shift my perspective through the practice of gratitude πand meditationπ§ββοΈ...and later towards healing modalities like Reiki. πIt felt like MAGICπ«π«π« to me, because from using these tools I found a sense of peace, empowerment, and joy! πππππ
The first thought I had when I began to feel this relief and happiness was "I wish these tools were available when I was a kidπ€....and then the proceeding thought was... I need to teach these tools to children."π‘π‘π‘π
The Premise I teach is all about how " you are the light house keeper of your life"
Just like a light house keeper would need to clean the lense daily....we need to keep our connection and light clear, so that when the storm of life come...we can always find our way home. To keep their own light clean ie ...energy

Happy Friday everyone π . Take some time this weekend to give your soul some moments to recharge. What's your go to ? I'm going to book a massage and keep up with a journaling course I just started yesterday π.
Growth doesn't come from staying in your comfort zone. So if you want a life that lights you up and keeps you growing then you will need to get comfortable with being uncomfortable ππ .
The brain seeks comfort and it likes to keep us safe ...that's it's job. So when we try to incorporate new habits and challenge ourselves it kind of freaks out and tries to but on the brakes by keeping us small and safe.
But if you can catch it while it's happening then you can shift it ...say to your friend the brain ..."thanks but no thanks, but my heart is taking the lead from here." Yes I'm asking you to converse with your heart and brain ππ .
Getting out of your comfort zone is scary but also exciting and amazing and I've decided to make it my mantra this year . "Get comfortable with feeling uncomfortable and then watch the awesomeness unfold!" I'll let you know how that goes π

As the universe would have it we ended sitting next to each other and she told me about her dream of opening up a maternity home for young moms ( In her own home I might add) .
