As always, our success is more than just about ribbons. It’s about the full Foxwood family team of coaches of Brandon Hall Charlotte C***s, barn help and catch rider Olivia Dallaire and all of our riders, their families and friends.
It’s also about our equestrian community who was there for us when we needed them.
We are grateful to everyone ❤️
Following a very successful silver 3 show weekend, in the late afternoon on Sunday, July 7, our Foxwood team was faced with a very traumatic trailering incident involving 5 of our show horses returning home.
A speeding driver going southbound on Mount Hope road in Caledon attempted to pass another vehicle at Dr. Reynar road, lost control, hit the other vehicle and sent both of them into the side of the 9 horse trailer carrying our horses going northbound.
The driver was impaired, arrested at the scene after attempting to flee, and has been charged with further charges pending.
Miraculously, all of our horses were ok, as well as the driver of the trailer.
There are 2 reasons for this post:
1. The photos of the 2 vehicles are intended to bring awareness to everyone that serious accidents happen quickly and there ARE impaired drivers on the roads at ALL times of the day.
2. In this emergency situation, our equestrian community came together so quickly to assist at the site of the accident and also, back at home:
Chris Wenzel of C and S Equine Transport immediately attended to the well being of our horses and prioritized their safety. With his knowledge, professionalism and driving skill set, he prevented what could have been a much more serious accident.
In addition to his quick help at the scene, following what was a very scary experience for him, Chris took the time to drive back to Foxwood in the evening to make sure our horses were all ok.
The management team Angelstone Events Angelstone Silver Series Equine Choice : Madrigal, AJ, Yvonne and others, quickly sent medical and emergency assistance to the accident site.
Cam Edwards assisted with horse wellness checks at the accident site.
Melissa Marshall rushed on site and returned to Foxwood, following the first trailer, to provide assistance to our vet who was waiting back at the barn.
The Caledon Fire Department and OPP kept the situation under control and the area contained until our horses were moved onto new trailers.
Donna of C and S Equine Transport quickly arrived on site to get 4 of our 5 horses back home safely.
Tori Po***ck and the Country Mile Stables team stepped in to provide trailering home for our 5th horse due to lack of room on the primary emergency trailer.
Dr. Stef Nickerson arrived to Foxwood ahead of the trailers to ensure our horses were assessed and treated immediately.
Our Foxwood team of riders, parents, students and all of the family members all jumped in and assisted with anything that was needed from calling emergency vets to helping horses get settled at home.
Today, we are happy to report that the 5 horses who were involved are all outside and happily grazing.
We are extremely grateful and appreciate everyone who helped us.
Thank you, all ❤️
** a day later and we are hearing about more people who helped us who we wish to thank:
Aaron and Angie Combdon and Julie Tremblay - first to arrive on scene. Thank you for stopping the drunk driver from getting away before the OPP arrived!!
Britt Hill - thank you for rushing to the scene with medical supplies
From the moment we brought him home, we knew this pony was special…but little did we know that Buddy would become such a superstar 🤩
Following a few seasons on the silver circuit at the children’s pony level, this past weekend Fighting Irish stepped up to the large pony hunter division on the gold circuit. Under the guidance of his rider Olivia Dallaire , they had respectable trips against a large field of 23 and proved that they are ready to be at this level.
The biggest thrill for our team, was competing in the annual Great Pony Challenge. Buddy and Olivia along with 2 other riders and their large ponies from 2 other barns, formed the Great Pony Piñata team. All 3 riders jumped the course with ease and the wait at the end of the day was worth it with our team winning BEST costume of the event!
Cheers from the crowd along with big hugs to each other and to our ponies made it the perfect ending to an amazing show weekend 🪅 🎉!
Thank you to our Foxwood families who came out to support us (with costumes, too;) and to coach Brandon Hall who has been an incredible help this season in the success of this pair💕

With a cold blast of winter from Mother Nature, we wanted to share some important tips for our riders to keep warm!
Dress in layers so that you can maintain a comfortable body temperature during cold weather riding. Layering allows you to add or remove clothing easily as your body temperature changes.
Vests are wise layering choices as they keep your torso warm and fit well under outer layers.
When you're thinking in terms of outer layers, there are many options to consider from jackets and parkas designed specifically for equestrians - resistant and insulated, they're cut to help you ride comfortably, with styling that won't alter your position in the saddle.
Insulated winter riding boots are intended to create space for warm air to circulate inside the boot. If your toes touch the end of a boot, your foot will feel colder, so be sure that you select your perfect fit. You'll find tall winter riding boots and winter paddock boots available in a variety of
styles.
Keep your head warm when not wearing your helmet with a warm toque.
Good winter gloves that are not too snug, will keep hands and fingers warm and will allow for holding the reins.
All tack shops carry a great selection of winter riding gear, so be prepared for those cold winter riding days so you or your rider can enjoy the most of the winter season ❄
As we get ready to celebrate the start of a new year, we look towards the future of Foxwood.
For 2024, we will continue the development of our competitive riders, but we also are excited to be bringing along young show ponies and horses.
This week we invited DJ Murtagh to Foxwood to work with our 2 year old pony Bowie (Under Purr-essure) along with her paddock mate Ruby owned by .
DJ’s wealth of knowledge not only as a judge but from his extensive showing of horses/ponies on the line was an amazing experience for not just our ponies, but for us as handlers!
We can’t wait to have DJ return to Foxwood in early 2024 to help us continue working with these 2 youngsters (with Sport Pony show goals for 2024 😉
