There is no break for the people of Gaza. 🇵🇸
As Parliament breaks for the summer, we held a press conference with leading humanitarian agencies today on Parliament Hill to urge the Government of Canada to call for an end to the war in Gaza and prevent further mass atrocities.
Our teams on the ground continue to do everything they can to assist civilians desperately in need of protection and aid. We urge our Canadian Government to do the same.

“Feed the hungry, visit the sick, and free the prisoner."-Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Last weekend, we came together with volunteers and assembled 700 worship kits for incarcerated Muslims. We are so proud of our community for supporting such a special and important cause. 🫶Unfortunately, at times, we can be blinded by judgment when it comes to incarceration, however, it is important to educate ourselves about the systems that govern us and how Muslims and people of colour are many times, mistreated. Thank you to our volunteers and donors who contributed to uplifting Muslims in prisons!#muslim #prison #islam #incarcerated
"When you meet the boys of Gaza, they are men." -Imam Omar Suleiman. The strength and yaqeen (certainty) of the Gazans remind us of that of the first Muslims, unwavering and with full certainty of Allah's help. Their response to the devastating events they are experiencing should serve as reminders of how our response should be to the hardships of this life. Feeling sad should not be the only response when we witness tragedies, but rather how to utilize our feelings to bring about positive change. Thank you to the children of Gaza for teaching us what bravery looks like. 💙
Glimpses of Hajj
The journey to Hajj begins years before you take the first step. We plan with our money, we set aside our time, but it's also our deeds that start us off on this important pillar of our deen. In our everyday lives, we have the chance to catch these glimpses of Hajj.
🫱 It's when we rush to help someone.
📢 It's when we raise our voices to stand in solidarity.
👆 And when we give from ourselves, seeking only His pleasure.
During the blessed ten days of Dhul Hijjah, let's start paying attention to these moments. And make sure to make the most of them until we find ourselves taking the first step on this pilgrimage.

World hunger
According to the UN, the number of people going hungry has doubled in the last 5 years. Climate change and man-made conflicts are some of the root causes of world hunger. It's devastating to hear that in both Sudan and Gaza, the starving are eating grass or leaves, but together we can make a difference. No matter how big or small, give from what you love this Dhul Hijjah.

"We are now displaced in an agricultural area, and we suffer from a lack of water, like most displaced people. I was very happy when I found this water well, the construction of which was funded by Islamic Relief - Canada in 2014. The well is still working in the area. It is true that there is a problem with the high cost of diesel power needed to operate it, but it is the only one here that works and hundreds of displaced families in this area now depend on it in order to obtain water. So I send my greetings and gratitude to Islamic Relief in Canada and the Palestine office for their continued efforts in serving Palestine and its people."We are extremely grateful to see that that this well is still going strong. We tend to overlook the impact that a simple donation can make, but this is just one example of how your donations can help people who are facing death and destruction. We pray that this onslaught ends soon and we can rebuild Gaza together 🤲
In a time where the health system in Gaza has collapsed, we are extremely grateful to learn that our partner UOSSM Canada, have acquired vital medical supplies that are being delivered via Jordan to those suffering from injuries and wounds in Gaza. Thank you to those who continue to donate! Keep speaking up, and keep making dua, your efforts are making a difference! #ceasefirenow #gaza #canadianpoli

CEO Usama Khan’s message on the passing of our Orphans in Gaza
We are devastated to learn from our teams on the ground that 168 of our sponsored orphans were killed in Gaza.
Our CEO Usama Khan along with our staff, send our deepest condolences to the families of the orphans and to our donors during this horrific time. We pray that we are all reunited in a place better than this 🤲
إِنَّا ِلِلَّٰهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ
To Allah we belong and to him we shall return.
Canada must act with the utmost urgency and uphold its humanitarian values. Since October 7th, the number of orphans registered in our system has almost doubled. We cannot imagine losing any more lives.
Join us in demanding that Canada takes immediate action in condemning Israel’s latest offensive into Rafah and takes decisive action in revoking all export permits to Israel. Click the link to send a letter to your MP now ➡️islamicrelief.ca/rafah
Imam Omar Suleiman On Gaza
As of May 15, 2024, 105 journalists and media workers have been killed in Gaza. #Israel continues to stifle the voices of the oppressed people of Palestine.
Imam Omar Suleiman beautifully describes what we are all feeling. We must be the voice for those intentionally silenced, shelter for the displaced, and relief for the hungry.
Standing in solidarity with the oppressed and speaking out against injustice should never be stifled.
Palestinians deserve to be heard. They deserve to be free.
“And do not say about those who are killed in the way of Allah, ‘They are dead.’ Rather, they are alive, but you perceive [it] not” [al-Baqarah 2:154] On the 76th anniversary of the Nakba, we remember our martyrs. Hind Rajab who was killed while surrounded by the bodies of her family. Reem and Tareq, whose grandfather honours their memories. Doctor Hammam who refused to leave his patients side. Roshdi Sarraj, our photojournalist who is survived by his wife 1-year-old daughter. And every mother, child, brother, and father who have passed away in this devastating assault. Peace upon the martyrs of Gaza.
This weekend we had the opportunity to visit the inspiring rallies in Edmonton with Omar Suleiman. We stood in solidarity with students and communities and spoke with them about their experiences and their hopes. And the sentiment is the same with everyone we spoke to — that a free Palestine is not far-fetched. It’s a reality that Allah has given us the power to create. We grew up hearing stories of our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ - stories of oppression, persecution, where change seemed unattainable. However for those who believed in Allah’s power and continued to endeavour they were amongst the successful. Just like our beloved Prophet, we will continue strive, raise awareness, hold world leaders accountable, and have faith in our Creator. We know that a free Palestine is not only possible, it is already written.
Gaza needs our help now more than ever. More than 34,000 people have been killed — not counting the thousands under the rubble who are unaccounted for. We call on the Canadian government to condemn Israel’s latest offensive in Rafah, take decisive action in revoking all export permits to Israel, and demand an immediate and long-lasting cease-fire.The people of Gaza cannot endure any more suffering. It’s high time for action and join us in sending an email to your elected official urging them to act Now-https://islamicrelief.ca/rafah #RafahUnderAttack #NowhereToGo #CeasefireNOW #Rafah #Gaza
In times of calamity and turmoil, either caused by humans or by a natural disaster, remember to have faith in Allah. He alone is our guardian, our shelter and our hope. May Allah have His mercy on every being and bring ease to those in need. 🙏 #Jummah #Prayer #Duaa
Today we staged a die-in on Parliament Hill alongside Oxfam Canada, Amnesty Canada, Oxfam Quebec, Cjpme, Hci Canada, and a number of other organizations to share a glimpse of the horrors that Gazans have been facing for the past 6 months and 76 years. Today we represent the 34,000+ people that have been killed-mothers, doctors, journalists, sons, daughters, fathers, breadwinners, and so many more.Although we will never fully encapsulate the brutality faced on the ground in Palestine, we remind our fellow brothers and sisters in humanity to act NOW.End the siege.End the transfer of weapons.Ceasefire NOW!
While it is easy to slip back into old routines after Ramadan, let's hold onto the habits we built during this sacred month. Even the smallest efforts count because Allah sees the sincerity of our intentions and guides those striving to draw closer to Him. #JummahMubarak #Islam #Muslims #IslamicReminder
Today marks 200 days since the latest bombardment in Gaza, but what we've been witnessing in Gaza has been occurring for the past 76 years across Palestine. Children losing their limbs, fathers being imprisoned, and mothers becoming disfigured due to bombs is a daily occurrence. Since 2007, Gaza has been named the largest open-air prison due to the land, sea and air blockade by Israel, with 2 million people living within about 139 square miles. The blockade reduced Gaza’s GDP by 50%, youth unemployment exceeded by 60%, and nearly 80% of Gaza's population receives some form of international aid (OCHA). Today, the World Food Programme announced that the Gaza Strip could surpass famine thresholds of food insecurity, malnutrition and mortality in six weeks.
