Record numbers of people are currently uprooted by war, violence and persecution and the world is failing to provide them with protection and assistance.

With many crises becoming increasingly protracted, millions of people have now been displaced for years or even decades, with international support drying up. People who have fled violence in Syria, Yemen, Afghanistan and Myanmar have recently suffered severe cuts to food aid, yet there are few opportunities for them to grow their own food or find jobs to support themselves.

Tackling the global displacement crisis will require an increase in immediate aid for people fleeing violence, greater support for longer-term livelihoods to reduce aid dependency, sustained diplomatic attention on peace negotiations and peacebuilding, and consistent respect for international law.

G7 countries continue to add fuel to the fire in conflicts around the world, as their military expenditure surged to $1.2 trillion last year.

So what is the G7?
The group comprises 7 of the world’s advanced economies, including Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the European Union. They meet together to find solutions to global economic and financial problems. 

Although conflict, security and immigration were high on last week’s G7 Summit agenda, it is paramount that these countries are held accountable for their actions in fuelling conflicts, leading to the displacement and destruction of people and their livelihoods.

🚨BREAKING NEWS - after last weeks release of the UN report investigating the war crimes committed in Gaza - the head of the UN inquiry has now accused the Israeli military of carrying out the “extermination” of Palestinians.

Sexual violence in conflicts is a severe violation of international human rights & humanitarian law. As a humanitarian agency, we advocate for justice, gender equality, and the protection of communities.

🌍 On this World Day to Eliminate Sexual Violence in Conflict, let’s amplify our voices to ensure humanitarian law is upheld and human rights are protected. Our leaders must bring an end to sexual violence being used as a weapon of war.

To the fathers living under occupation, the fathers shielding their children from violence, the fathers who are unjustly criminalized because of racism and xenophobia. To the fathers who are alone, the fathers who are protecting and providing in every way they can — our hearts and prayers are with you today.

This Eid, we remember those in Gaza, Sudan, Yemen, the Uyghurs, and every Muslim around the world going through hardships. Although our hearts are in pain, these tragedies remind us that this dunya is not our final home. 

We pray for a day where all those suffering know peace instead of pain, happiness instead of sadness, and life instead of loss.

The journey of Prophet Ibrahim [AS] and his wife Hajer [RA] to the desert is a reminder for us to trust Allah's plans and give to the vulnerable communities for His sake from what we cherish the most.

The pain of our ummah is great, but let us not fall into despair. During the month of Dhul Hijjah, let's remember the trials that Prophet Ibrahim's ﷺ went through, and how he handled each one with tawakul, (reliance), upon Allah. Just like the people of Gaza, let us have faith without doubt, and remember that with every hardship comes ease.

وَتَوَكَّلۡ عَلَى ٱللَّهِۚ وَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ وَكِيلٗا
And rely upon Allah; and sufficient is Allah as Disposer of affairs.

Al-Fashir Hospital has been targeted for the fourth time in two months, on Sunday after a paramilitary group opened fire at staff and patients. Alhamdulillah, no injuries were sustained, however, we are concerned about the lack of medical accessibility within the region.

We are absolutely devastated to hear about the latest escalation of violence in . Nothing can justify killing of innocent civilians including children. Since 2023 the onslaught of violence has now led to the worlds largest displacement crisis and an entire country on the brink of famine. We must keep and ensure that justice, peace, and stability are upheld.
