Kate Hennessy & Trudi Lynn Smith: Becoming Anarchival — Gallery 881 10/30/2024

A new collaboration between the School of Interactive Arts + Technology's Kate Hennessy and artist-ethnographer Trudi Lynn Smith opens this Saturday, November 2 at Gallery 881 in Vancouver.

"Becoming Anarchival" emerges from Hennessy and Smith's fieldwork around a defunded paleontology research centre in Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia using documentary photographs, anthotype contact prints, and video works to foreground the anarchival as a condition that erodes widely held belief in archives, scientific knowledge, and civic structures as stable and enduring.
