Did you know there is a “day” for Global Handwashing on October 15? And did you also know that hand washing is considered a human right according to the International Water Association (IWA). I agree!

Lately I’ve been noticing the variation in public washrooms and facilities - some are inclusive of age and height as in children have fold out stools and can easily reach the soap and taps to help themselves. Other places not so much or not at all. I was recently in a Parks Canada campground in Banff which had my child (5.5 years old) bending awkwardly climbing/leaning in to attempt to reach soap and water while getting her clothes wet from the counter. Should you have to lift a kid just so they can wash hands? It’s everywhere you go from restaurants to theatres, airports, stores etc..At least daycares and schools get it (pictured).

Public washrooms can and should do better to have inclusive bathroom design, right? Have you ever wondered this too? Let me know!

Gardening season is coming up!
I know I can’t wait to get my bare hands in the soil, plant seeds, grow some veggies and berries. Our growing season isn’t very long in Calgary, so in the next few weeks I will be starting some seeds indoors.

When all is said and done, it can roughen up your hands- especially if you are pruning anything prickly or getting soil stuck in the fingernails.

Try a moisturizing scrubby soap which has coffee grounds to help wash away and pamper your hands again!
