The development permit has been submitted to the City of Edmonton for the Brentwood Renewal - Phase 1 Multi Residential project by Brentwood Homes! ⁠

This five-storey multi residential building will bring 69 units to Edmonton's Woodcroft community, offering apartments ranging from 700 to 1,200 square feet. ⁠

This is the first structure to be developed for the Brentwood Master Plan which Gravity is co-leading with B&A Planning Group. ⁠

Construction for the Bowness 24 Multi is almost complete! This 24-unit multi residential development is located in Bowness's west side. This area is known to have low-density townhouse and apartment buildings, and the Bowness 24 is only slightly more urban than its neighbours. It will be adding 24 much needed homes to the area.⁠

The building's design features an intentionally restrained palette the uses white Hardie lap siding against dark corrugated metal cladding, complemented by the warmth of the wood soffit.⁠

We are proud to share the construction progress on the Emerge Arbour Lake project by Avalon Master Builder, featuring seven townhomes with a total of 87 units. We are thrilled to be pursuing fully Net Zero upper units for a project of this scale.⁠

The seven stacked, two-storey rental-only townhomes use rooftop solar panels and heat pumps to help meet our goal of Net Zero for the upper units. The lower units will be Net Zero ready. None of the units are connected to a natural gas supply!⁠

The Killarney Multi construction is underway! ⁠

This project benefits from the new land use policy and infrastructure improvements that have resulted from the the redevelopment of the 37th Street Main Street. Additionally, the Killarney Multi is conveniently located just a few blocks away from the commercial corridor of Calgary's popular 17th Avenue which is also a Main Street with policy focused on further redevelopment. ⁠

Construction is underway for the Summit 77 rowhouse development in Calgary's Springbank Hill district! ⁠

This project is on a west-facing slope immediately west of Ambrose College and includes both west and east-facing homes that allow for generous sunlight and mountain views. They will consist of 22-buildings with a total of 110 units. Summit 77 is designed on a sizeable parcel of land which gave us the opportunity to solve the challenge of creating more housing density for the Springbank community.⁠

Just a quick walk from Monogram Coffee in Altadore, these four 1500+ square foot, three-story townhouses each feature a rooftop balcony, a small private yard and a private garage accessed from the lane to the north. They are a perfect example of modest densification through missing middle housing. ⁠

We are happy to introduce Karley, our Marketing Coordinator! Karley joined us in November 2023 while pursuing her degree in Communications with a major in Public Relations at Mount Royal University. She has maintained a position on the President's Honour Roll throughout her studies and is eager to apply her knowledge of marketing and strategic communication to her role at Gravity.⁠

Karley has a keen eye for the nuances of language and finds even the most technical details of communication poetic. Her passion stems from having explored over 25 countries, where she gained a profound understanding of global perspectives and communication.⁠

Karley is now working full time, leading and supporting Gravity's marketing and business development efforts.

Every two years the AAA brings together over 400 architects, interior designers, academics, and students to the stunning Rocky Mountains of Alberta to network, learn and advance the profession. After attending the Banff Sessions this past weekend we’ve returned to the office feeling inspired, humbled, and rejuvenated as designers and architects. The lessons learned from this years theme 'rebuild' have given us much to consider as we look to how we can continue to evolve our practice.

We’d like to extend a thank you to the Alberta Association of Architecture for creating a space for us to gather, listen, and learn as professionals, and we look forward to seeing everyone at the Banff Sessions 2026!

He earned his Master of Architecture in 2012 from Obafemi Awolowo University in Nigeria and has since worked on diverse projects in Nigeria, the United Kingdom, and Canada.⁠

Ade's portfolio includes residential complexes, commercial spaces, healthcare facilities, educational institutions, and other institutional buildings. He is passionate about transforming abstract ideas into structures that not only fulfills functional purposes but also creates innovative and meaningful spaces that inspire communities!⁠

The Joyce Mixed-Use is a feasibility study our team conducted for Vancouver’s Renfrew-Collingwood community. This project presents significant opportunities for commercial and residential development.

The Joyce Mixed-Use project would include 60 residential units with a mix of apartment and townhouse complexes. Our proposed development takes advantage of the significant grade by terracing new commercial, amenities, gardens and allow private residential access throughout the site.

Only two blocks north you will find the Joyce-Collingwood Skytrain station making it an optimal location with convenient accessibility. This site would be a major connector for the area—with large commercial buildings to the north, and single family homes to the south. Our study confirmed that it is an attractive and viable site for redevelopment!

Unanimous approval has been made by the Edmonton City Council for the land use redesignation to support the adoption of the Brentwood Master Plan!⁠

Our project team was selected to co-lead with B&A Planning Group to develop a master plan redevelopment strategy and direct the land use rezoning process for Edmonton’s Woodcroft community. Redesigning the architectural and community landscape required close alignment with strategic goals and values established in the Edmonton City Plan. ⁠

Now with the successful approval we can share the hard work our project team has demonstrated towards this ambitious project. ⁠

The Sun Peaks Staff Housing (Parcel 37) project by A&T Developments is part of a series of developments Gravity has designed for the Sun Peaks Ski Resort northeast of Kamloops, BC. The Parcel 37 project is a four-storey, 58-unit building that was designed to provide additional staff housing for the resort.

We wanted to showcase the scaffolding being removed as it now reveals the façade of the alpine-themed building. The design team chose a mountain sage green for its exterior and warm hues to complement its natural surrounding. ⁠

The development will help attract skilled staff to the resort by providing accommodation that is both comfortable and convenient. ⁠

The Development Permit for Langley’s Mixed-Use has been submitted! ⁠

Our project team has been working diligently alongside Kerr Properties to design a 6-storey building that carefully considers the goals of the Official Community Plan (OCP) and will quickly become an integral part of the Langley community as the future Skytrain extension will be steps away.⁠

This transit-oriented development will be located at the corner of 203 Street and Fraser Highway and will be the last stop of the proposed Skytrain extension which will play a major role in the city's revitalization efforts for the foreseeable future!⁠

The development includes at-grade commercial spaces for retail opportunities and 78 above-grade residential units. The residential units vary from one-, two-, and three-bedroom configurations, and range from 600 to 1,050 square feet. The proximity to the proposed sky train station required the project team to work closely with the City of Langley to negotiate solutions that focused on maximizing density for the project. ⁠

D’Arcy Thrive by Partners Development Group will introduce three-level stacked townhomes to Okotoks with units ranging from 1400 to 1500 square feet. This project is part of a 280-acre residential community by Anthem Properties that overlooks the D'Arcy Ranch Golf Club and the Rocky Mountains to the West.

The architecture of these homes is a synthesis of Prairie Style, with its monolithic hip roof and empire waist string course, and a traditional townhouse aesthetic with the vertical unit differentiation and brick cladding. Each unit features open floor plans and private outdoor spaces that include either at-grade patios or balconies.

The Development Permit has been released for the Seton West (Phase 2) project by Logel Homes!

As we all know, Calgary is rapidly growing and residents are highly anticipating the Green Line LRT platform that will give them convenient access to various parts of the city. This multi-residential development is on its way to be begin construction and will include three buildings with a total of 238 units. The LRT line will be just east of its location in the deep south Seton community. ⁠

This is an exciting addition to the area as it will offer small to medium sized families who desire living in suburban communities more housing options that still provide them accessible and sustainable solutions. ⁠

We are excited to celebrate the progress on 'The Nines,' which OPUS recently broke ground on!

If you can spot the hardhat with the G on it, you'll see Trent, one of our Principals, enjoying a sunny day with the project team ready to get construction underway. 'The Nines' will be an 85-unit mixed-use development for OPUS, located at the intersection of Elbow Drive and Southland Drive in Calgary’s Haysboro community.

We are now on our way to providing the community with a six-storey building featuring 16,000 square feet of retail space below the 85 apartments. Our updated rendering gives you a sneak peek of what's to come!

The University Towns will be a large-scale three-storey townhouse development that specifically addresses residents' desire to age in place with convenience and comfort as a top priority. We worked with our client to design each unit to be equipped with an intuitive elevator system that lands on each floor in the homes.⁠

The University Towns are located in the University District and stand out from the surrounding buildings by use of darker and moodier exterior tones that still respond well to the contemporary aesthetic of the community. There will be a future park directly west of the site that offers residents ample green space amenities as their backyard, and leads to the city’s regional pathways. ⁠

What a night and what a turnout! Thank you again to the Architectural Technologies Student Association at SAIT for having us attend this amazing industry night event.

Our team had the opportunity to chat with students and answer some important questions they had about what it's like working in this industry. With our senior project manager Chris's hands-on experience, our architect intern Maureen’s diverse background in the field, and our junior AT Julianne who has adjusted seamlessly since graduating SAIT herself—we were able to provide a wide range of insights. ⁠

Many students appreciated our work as it sparked inspiration for them as they developed their own projects throughout the semesters. This was very humbling to hear and we are grateful to see how our work can continue to inspire passionate students. We look forward to next year!

The Gravity team had a spot of good weather visiting Kerr’s West Kelowna townhouse project on Anders Road last week. Most of the foundations were in place, and the framers were putting up the first floor walls. Trent and Stephen had the chance to meet John, the site super, for a full tour of the project. There is a lot of construction activity in the area with new commercial and multi-storey projects nearby which will make this formerly rural site feel like it’s at the centre of the community!

One of our goals with the Mission Flats project was to efficiently offer Calgarians more housing options in the high-density communities like Mission. The more individuals that occupy homes means that more solutions are being found to address the country’s housing concerns. We thrive on finding solutions that tackle these concerns and are delighted to witness the spaces we’ve designed being filled with new residents.

Mission Flats has been inspired by the neighbourhood’s character, designed with intent to have the building's symmetrical massing complement the adjacent older buildings. Our goal was to offer certain details to blend with the surrounding buildings, while providing contemporary features. The apartment-style condominium consists of 67 units with a large underground parkade and will soon have eleven beautiful landscaped garden suites completed.
