So honoured to have won the Industry Person of The Year Award at the YYC Music Awards in Calgary last night. Thank you Calgary!

Photos from Hotels Live's post 07/19/2023

Thank you to the YYC Music Awards for my 3rd Industry Person of the Year Nomination - Rob Cyrynowski!! Good luck to all the Nominees!

In my 32 year’s of working in the music industry, I’ve worn many hats, from Club DJ in 1991, to becoming Canada’s top Talent Buyer, Concert Promoter, Booking Agent, Manager, Tour Manager, PR Consultant, Photographer, Venue Manager and even Roadie. Lol

Livestar Entertainment Canada continues to not only bring Calgary, some of the world’s biggest artists, but it also allows me to work with Local artists and various Calgary venues to help service and shape Calgary’s vibrant music scene. Last year, also marked the conclusion of our Hotels Live, COVID-Safe Concert Series in Calgary, where we became Canada’s only Concert Promoter’s to operate throughout the entire pandemic, winning the 2022 Canadian Live Music Industry Award for “Outstanding Emerging Organization” and the 2022 Music Cities Award for “Best Music Tourism Initiative” worldwide!

Hundreds of jobs in the Calgary Arts & Hotel sectors were created through Hotels Live, when nobody else in the world, could find a way to keep live music playing. 15,000 Calgarians experienced live, in person concerts/ events from the safety of their hotel balconies, over a 21 month period during the pandemic, at two hotel properties, selling over 4,700 hotel rooms and producing over 80 shows here in Calgary! The mental-wellness initiatives alone gave hope to both the local Arts community, our patrons and the rest of Canada, that we could keep live music alive, even in our darkest of times… All done without any reported cases of COVID-19!

The unique skill set, experience, and industry connections that I have, allows me to work in all genres of music and at every level, helping Calgary based artists develop their touring careers, putting them on stages with major artists, or by putting them on tours right across country. In 2022-2023, some of these Calgary based artists include, Kyle McKearney (Booked 20 shows across Canada), The Hello Darling, Brandon Lorenzo, Lauren Mayell, Brad Saunders, Oscar Lopez, In/Vertigo, Pink Freud, BROKENTOYZ, Jersey Boulevard, Drumndj, DJ Kav, Kay L, The Lost Boys, Greg Cox, Gil Tougas, Ty Marshall, Dueling Piano Kings, and Le Cirque de la Nuit

During 2022-2023, Livestar also had the privilege of working with a variety of venues and organizations to bring them live entertainment in Calgary, including the Cowboys Music Festival, Calgary Stampede, Oxford Stomp Music Festival, Grey Eagle Event Centre, Cowboys Calgary, Ranchmans Calgary, The King Eddy, WinSport's Canada Olympic Park Arena, Jack Singer Concert Hall, Century Downs Racetrack and Casino, The Rec Room, Ramada Plaza Calgary Downtown, Delta Hotels by Marriott Calgary South, Stampede City Sessions, Craig Senyk Initiatives, Live Nation Alberta, PM Gigs Inc., City of Calgary, YourAlberta (Government of Alberta), Calgary Arts Development, RISE UP Calgary, Bird Creatives, Calgary Hotel Association, Tourism Calgary, The City of Airdrie, Alberta Music, Travel Alberta

I am also proud to serve on the boards and music industry committees of:

Canadian Country Music Association - 6 years
Country Music Alberta - just elected!
West Anthem - Committee member
Rise Up Calgary - Committee member

Regardless of any awards, we just want to thank all of those involved for working with Livestar Entertainment and Hotels Live over this past incredible year back from COVID, as we take great pride in continuing to service the music industry here in Calgary, Alberta and Canada.

Stay tuned this fall, as Livestar Entertainment looks to officially launch Alberta’s Only Multi-Genre Booking Agency, to help service even more artists in the YYC and throughout Canada!

It was just 1 year ago, that Hotels Live did their last Live, In-Person Concert here in Calgary after a remarkable 21 month run during COVID-19! We ended off our concert series with The Blushing Brides (The World’s Greatest Rolling Stones Tribute) It was an epic finale concert at the Delta Hotels by Marriott Calgary South!

Somehow, Hotels Live kept live music playing for nearly 2 years during COVID, when nobody else could find a way to work around the restrictions. By repurposing hotel pool decks & atriums into safely distanced concert stages, we were able to create hundreds of jobs locally in both the arts and hotel sectors, selling over 4,700 hotel rooms to over 15,000 Albertans, with over 80 live in-person concert/ events taking place, and 160+ performances, featuring, Live Concerts in all genres of music, DJ shows, Comedy shows, Theatre and Dance events, Circus shows, Charitable community events, Corporate events and even Drag Shows.

Our patrons safely enjoyed these concerts from the comforts of their hotel balconies, all without wearing masks, while singing and dancing together with up to 400 ppl at a time, both indoors & outdoors, all when the rest of the world stayed shut down and gathering limits were only 25-50 outdoors, even less indoors. We found a way to keep live music and their jobs alive, producing Canada’s biggest concerts every weekend in Calgary. The best part about this all, was there were Zero Reported Cases of COVID-19 Transmission at any Hotels Live events, during our entire 21 month concert series!

Hotels Live became the world’s only sustainable, live music entertainment model of its kind to successful run throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

Thank you to everyone who played a part or supported Hotels Live in its Initiative to spread Hope, via the power of Live Music and the human spirit re-imagined. It worked!

Look what showed up today to top off an amazing 2022! Thank you again Music Cities Awards 2022 for choosing Hotels Live Safe Concert Series as the Best Music Tourism Initiative Worldwide! Furthermore, we are grateful to be Canada’s only award recipient for these Global Music Awards this year 🇨🇦

The Music Cities Awards is a global competition designed to acknowledge and reward the most outstanding applications of music for economic, social, environmental and cultural development in cities and places all around the world.

Leslie and I are greatly honoured to be internationally recognized for our work in keeping Live, In-Person Music playing during this pandemic with our Safe Staycation Concert Series, where we repurposed Hotel Pool Decks & Atriums into Concert Stages for people to safely experience from the comforts of their hotel balconies and rooms. Over 15,000 patrons came to Calgary from across Canada to experience over 80 Live Events, buying 4,700+ hotel rooms, when hotel occupancy rates were between 5-10%. We were able to create hundreds of jobs for artists, musicians, its ecosystem and for the hotel and hospitality sectors as well. Hotels Live became Canada’s top grossing concert promoter in the first year of this pandemic and put on Canada’s first live, in-person concert after the 3 month lockdown on July 1st, 2020. The best part still is, there were Zero reported cases of COVID-19 transmission at any Hotels Live events, over our 21 month run!

Look what showed up in the mail today!!
Our Hotels Live team thanks everyone who supported us and followed our incredible journey for nearly 2 years, on our mission to keep Live music playing throughout this pandemic. We were the first in Canada to safely do a Live, In-person show on July 1st 2020, and created hundreds of jobs for the Arts & Hotel sectors, during our darkest times. Over 15,000 people enjoyed the Hotels Live Staycation Concert experience for nearly 2 years during this pandemic, selling 4,700+ hotel rooms in Calgary alone.

Remarkably, there were Zero reported cases of COVID-19 transmission at any of our events, where patrons safely watched from their VIP Hotel balconies, singing, drinking and dancing away within their bubble, mask free! The mental wellness of this initiative alone was priceless for all Albertans who attended and spent the night for Staycation concert experiences.

For Hotels Live and Livestar Entertainment Canada to be recognized as Canadian Music Week’s BEST EMERGING ORGANIZATION at the 2022 Canadian Live Music Industry Awards, shows me that the Independent spirit is still alive and respected by this organization and our music industry peers. It wasn’t about politics or a popularity contest, it was based on merit and achievement for what was accomplished.

We are very grateful for the respect shown here and will soon bring you a re-imagined Livestar Entertainment Booking Agency as a result, further evolving and shaping our music industry here in Canada. This is how we can grow together. Stay tuned for more to come this fall from Livestar!

Happy Canada Day Everyone! 🇨🇦
2 years ago on Canada Day, Hotels Live launched, putting on Canada’s first Live, In-Person Concert after COVID-19 locked us all down for 3-4 months, decimating the live music industry world-wide.

Through sheer determination, Hotels Live was born as we found a way to repurpose Hotel Pool Decks, Atriums and Parking Lots into Concert Stages, where patrons could safely experience, Live, In-Person Concerts from the luxury of their Hotel Balconies (4ppl per room).

When the rest of Canada could only gather up to 25-50 ppl outdoors, we were safely gathering 400 ppl every Saturday night for our shows here in Calgary, essentially becoming the biggest concerts in Canada each week!

We found a way to keep the Live music flame alive for artists/ musicians, its ecosystem, the hotel & tourism sectors and music lovers alike. The mental-wellness factor alone, to be able to safely gather again, to sing, drink, and dance without masks on, was priceless during these last 2 years. This was freedom at its finest and remarkably, our model achieved this all, COVID-Free!

For our first concert on July 1st, 2020 on Canada Day, we found it only fitting to launch Hotels Live with Canada’s top tribute to The Tragically Hip, The Hip Experience. We thank them for taking the chance on our concept and being our very first headliner of 80. Remember, at that time, people were scared to come out of their homes, come in contact with anyone, touch a surface, stay in a hotel, or scarier yet, fly on a plane. Thank you to Derek and The Hip Experience for your Courage. “Courage, it couldn’t come at a worse time”…

We also want to thank local openers The Lost Boys, Greg Cox and Gil Tougas for being our inspiration to support local musical artists, which was the impetus for this entire initiative. Our first concert was truly a magical one, which had many people visibly in tears after being gripped by fear for the last 4 months previous. They were free to heal through the power of live music and the community of fans that were there to support it. This first show on Canada Day, helped launch a 21 month concert series for over 15,000+ patrons, over these last 2 years. Thank you everyone for the support, the great music and wonderful memories had by all. Happy Canada Day! 🇨🇦

Hotels Live - That’s A Wrap Everyone!!

Since July 1st, 2020 of this pandemic, Livestar Entertainment and Hotels Live found a safe way to keep live, in-person concerts and music playing here in Calgary, when most in the industry said that we’d have to wait until 2021 or 2022 for live to return.

Hotels Live found a way to safely restart live, in-person music, one month after the initial 3 month lockdown, producing the first in-person concert in Canada and subsequently, producing the only concert to take place during the Calgary Stampede in 2020.

When outdoor gathering limits across Canada were set at 25-50ppl, Hotels Live held Canada’s biggest concerts each week, with 400 people, all socially distanced on their hotel balconies outdoors, without masks and with many freedoms available to them. When winter came, we found a way to continue the popular series safely indoors from a Hotel Atrium with balconies on the inside. The Hotels Live Concert Series ran exclusively in Calgary, making it the only safe & sustainable concert series of its kind in the world during this pandemic.

With mankind looking to turn the page on COVID-19 and after 21 months of proudly serving our community, we decided to wrap things up with one final show on Saturday March 26, 2022. Hotels Live concluded its concert series with a sold-out show, featuring the Blushing Brides - The World’s Greatest Tribute to The Rolling Stones. It was simply amazing and a fantastic way for us to celebrate how far we had come. We even opened up the dancefloor!

There's nothing like coming together as a community to enjoy live music and our innovative model showed that it could be done safely, which is why we were able to continue throughout these restrictions in Alberta. It wasn’t always easy, but we persevered. By re-purposing these two hotel properties into Covid-safe concert venues, hundred’s of jobs were created in the Arts, Production, Hotel and Hospitality sectors here in Calgary. I want to thank the fine folks at Showpass and Joel Jelinski for working with us on the development of this concept, along with the Ramada Plaza Calgary Downtown & Delta Hotels by Marriott Calgary South properties and their staff for bringing it all to life with us. It’s become a Calgary only success story!

After 21 months of producing 80+ live concerts/ events in Calgary, selling over 4,700 hotel rooms, with more than 15,000 patrons coming through our doors at Hotels Live, we can proudly announce that there have been Zero reported cases of COVID-19 transmission at any of our events!!

This amazing achievement is unprecedented in the world of live entertainment and was proven right here in Calgary with our COVID-Safe model. We proved that we could keep live music playing throughout this pandemic and did it safely, while supporting our local Arts, Hotel & Hospitality sectors when they needed it the most. Ticket sales were in excess of $1.2 million, when everyone else across Canada was shut down in the industry as a whole, making Hotels Live, Canada’s Top Grossing Concert Promoter in it’s first year!

The Hotels Live Concert Series also delivered much-needed, mental-wellness initiatives for over 15,000 ppl, who safely danced, sang, cheered and partied all together from the comforts of their hotel balcony and VIP Box over these last 21 months. Our maskless model, quickly became an important healing outlet of sorts for the masses. A safely viewed live concert with your own private balcony, private washroom, overnight accommodations for 4 ppl and BYOB, became quite a hit in Calgary. Pets and families were all welcomed to join in the fun as well, so no one was left behind.

We want to thank all of our dedicated patrons, the incredible artists who graced our stage, staff, agents, promoters, presenters, sponsors, radio stations and government agencies involved in supporting Hotels Live & Livestar Entertainment during these unprecedented times. We never gave up and we found a way to keep the live music flame burning. During our darkest times, the magic of live music gave us all hope for better days ahead. Thank you everyone.

Finally, a beautiful thank you to our Hotels Live Family, Pulse Concert Works, George Antonio, Chad Thompson, Jo Stone, Derek Kohler, Greg Cox, Teed Burns, Lorenzo Cantinelli and of course the glue that kept it all together behind the scenes, my incredible wife and photographer extraordinaire, Leslie Cyrynowski. Be proud team, we made impact and History together when it mattered the most! ♥️

We are not done yet! Stay tuned this spring, as we embark on our newest endeavour the relaunch of a reimagined Livestar Entertainment Canada! Exciting things are still to come...

Until then, take care everyone and thank you for supporting Live Music past, present and especially future. It's time to Heal 🙏
