Jolie has brilliantly combined her passions for dance and kinesiology to help people with cancer ‘dance for health.’ While pursuing her unique combined degrees at UCalgary, she has taught dance classes, volunteered with the National accessArts Centre, and participated in numerous performances.
Jolie’s dedication extends to her work with the PEER Program at Kids Cancer Care, where she connects her love of exercise and teaching with children living with and beyond cancer. Her academic journey continues as she embarks on a master’s program to explore the impact of dance for health, guided by Dr. Sarah Kenny.
We are proud to celebrate Jolie's accomplishments and her commitment to using dance as a healing tool. Her journey is a testament to the power of interdisciplinary study and the positive impact it can have on community health.

Healthy eating is challenging in Canada due to the promotion of attractive, unhealthy foods, says Dr. Dana Olstad. Food companies play a crucial role in creating healthier food environments by reducing salt, saturated fats, and sugars in their products. The study evaluated the largest food and drink manufacturers in Canada and revealed that while some companies are making progress, overall improvement is still needed.

Researchers in Kinesiology at are seeking individuals with Type 1 Diabetes, aged 7 years and older, to participate in a study. This research aims to explore the potential benefits of a fiber supplement in altering gut microbiota and enhancing glucose control.
Potential benefits for participants include prolonged honeymoon periods, improved blood sugar control (time in range), reduced inflammation, and improved gut health.
