Hairdressers, how do you define success?

As a business owner I've had the privilege of understanding, with absolute clarity, that success will never come from chasing money. When income is the only focus, there is a missed opportunity for joy. I prefer to focus on creating an experience that can be mutually enjoyed. I learn SO much from my clients, and I am so grateful for that. It offers a sense of purpose and belonging when I connect with deep listening. I also love giving myself goals and direct focus to the craft itself, so that I continue to rediscover what hair is capable of!

Hello! If you're new to following me, I'm Sam and here's a glimpse into my mind.

1) l love to laugh and be silly 🪿

2) last year, my goal was to practice slowing down. While it was successful after much practice, I missed that sense of achievement I've received in prior years. Now this year I am looking to find my personal harmony between fulfilment and slow living. I'll let you know what I learn by the end of the year.

3) I am passionate about compassion. Extend it to yourself and others as often as possible! No need to judge or be cruel, it is not the answer to the changes you desire ❤️

4) Nature is such an unbelievable gift. We are not independent beings; everything is interconnected. Taking time to write down and talk about the wonders of life itself makes days feel brighter and more meaningful to me 🌞

5) I fell in love with hair in 2011 because I felt I could be myself in this industry, a way to really explore who I am without the rigid expectations of others impacting me!

6) I remain in love with hair because I see that it offers that same feeling to others! It's an opportunity to express yourself and feel seen for who you truly are.

Blue " is the color of the ocean and the sky; it often symbolizes serenity, stability, inspiration, or wisdom. It can be a calming color, and symbolize reliability." But in mohawk form is giving me more "I'm badass and I know it" kind of a feel 😏

My absolutely stunning cousin 💕 Not to be too mushy, but I have so much gratitude for this amazing woman. She is an example of how to be both strong and soft, kind and firm, and so much more. Thanks for being an incredible role model and support to me ❤️

This is easily one of my favorite colors I've done. I had so much fun painting it and seeing how it changes as the hair moves. Thanks for always letting me challenge my creative visions 💜

Honestly, I had a hard couple weeks recently. Things felt hazy and heavy, I felt a sense of insecurity and lack of confidence in myself. But then last night, I remembered that there is so much to be grateful for and that the point of life is to enjoy it. After giving myself a couple days to feel what I was feeling, I was able to notice that my subconscious was being crazy mean to me! So, I had an evening last night of positive affirmations. With offerings of grace and gratitude for this life, I'm happy to say I'm feeling much more elated. Hope you are being kind to yourself today, or can make space to when you feel ready ❤️ you're already worthy of joy and compassion, and the future is yours to write.

Before I began the planning or building for my studio, I spent time cultivating a happy place in my mind. It was a dense forest with a pebbled, windy path. Here, it smells like fresh rain and I'm always the perfect temperature. As I walk the path, I am so grateful for the beauty of this place and my ability to be present in it. I arrive at a small creek. The sound sends waves of calm through me....

I look up to my right and there lays a glass dome. There are comfortable looking chairs, warm nourishing drinks, and ambient music that fills the room with energy. I realize inside the dome is my dream work environment. Serene, welcoming, comfortable, and built inside my love for nature.

The variety of plants in Ramsackett Studio: which one is your favorite?

1) crochet plant (made for me by one of my incredible clients)
2) a real plant! (Extra oxygen!)
3) moss wall made of once living, now preserved forest findings (thanks again I love it so much)

E L D E R ✨ E M O. This client taught me that term and I'm obsessed! I am so sick of hearing people say they are too old to have fun hair or that they fear losing their sense of professionalism because of their hair color.

1) it's important that we change that narrative
2) there's ways to have vibrant hair AND feel professional, elegant, and mature. She's living proof 🥳

Healthy hair comes from good habits and a good headspace. If we are not emotionally well, our hair cannot be well. Not to mention you are less inclined to have a compassionate awareness when you look at your hair in a poor frame of mind.

So feel free to vent, ask for quiet, or be as silly as you can be during your hair appointment. I will always do my best to meet you where you are at and help you feel safe to feel whatever you're feeling during your appointment.

In the meantime...According to this Nobel Peace Prize laureate(the Dalai Lama), the 3 factors most effective for increasing happiness are the ability to:

Reframe our situation
Experience gratitude
Choose kindness and generosity
