The Vet's Rides

The 2024 riding season has come to an official end for The Vet’s Rides. It has been a stellar year with an awesome group of veterans/spouses, first responders and the occasional guest attending our rides. With rides hosted across Western Canada and into the NW US we had a wide variety of rides ranging from several hours to several days.

Our 2024 list of local rides included Hwy 1A, Hwy 40 (Kananaskis), Porcupine Hills, 10 Bridges (Last Chance Saloon), Bow Valley Parkway (Hwy 1A extension), Saskatchewan River Crossing (Icefields Parkway), Radium Springs, Bearberry Saloon, The Nations, Lundbreck Falls, St. Mary’s/Browning USA, Bleriot Ferry, Vulcan as well as several combinations of the above rides. We also supported a couple of veteran functions including Kilo9 and the Annual Veterans Ride (Red Deer HD).

For overnight rides we completed our annual Kaslo Kurves where we run those amazing curves around Creston, Kaslo and Nakusp BC. The Vet’s Rides also hosted a trip down to Helena, Montana where we visited the First Special Service Forces museum and monument. We also squeezed in rides in the area as well as stops at the Lewis & Clark caverns. Lots of curves, great food, parking lot get togethers and a sampling of the local wildlife. Unfortunately, weather got in our way for the annual Road to the Sun veterans ride so we will need to wait until 2025 to see who will take home that shooting trophy.

For 2025, I am planning to try and add some variations into our local rides as well as looking at additional full day rides. Trip planning will begin shortly with some destinations I am considering is the Sturgis area (off-season), Chief George/Beartooth highways, Little Big Horn and as always, our annual Road to the Sun veteran’s ride. I would like to thank everyone who rode with The Vet’s Rides over the 2024 season. Your participation on these rides allowed us to reconnect, make new lasting friendships, tell stories, experiences and share a laugh or tear.

Last day in Rome and managed to visit the First Special Services monument here. Having visited the FSSF Museum in Helena back in June it was a nice finish to my travels this year…

If you wondering where The Vet’s Rides has been for the last two weeks, we have been traipsing around Italy. We left our mark on an old rain spout in the city of Towers (San Gimignano).

Hopefully next year we will see better cooperation 😕

Nice ride out to Drumheller - a quick out to Last Chance Saloon then crossed the Bleriot ferry twice due to Drum traffic issue.

There is always a good side to things…

The trophy for this years Road to the Sun “bullets down range” is finished. If you want a chance to win this amazing custom box with a shooting trophy inside we still have a couple of spots open.

We have an assortment of rides planned in and around Flathead Valley, some tasty restaurants (BBQ to die for) and handgun shooting competition for the group.

An amazing day for a ride yesterday. Mostly cloudless sky (except for the NOPE cloud following us). Smoking hot (29 C), some beautiful scenery and great curves.

We ran Hwy 1A to Canmore, AB. and then the Bow Valley Parkway to Lake Louse. The Bow Valley Parkway is very nice even if the speed limit is a bit slow.

Lunch was at the Grizzly Paw Taproom in Canmore then returned to Calgary via Hwy 1A. A perfect day on the bikes!

Coming off a high - literally! We rode the Creston/Kaslo/Nakusp BC area this weekend pass. It did not disappoint :)

We rode curves and ferries and encountered a variety of wildlife on our ride from Calgary to Nakusp and return. We met a number of fellow bikers, made some new friends and managed to have a great time. Time to start working on our last big ride of the season - our annual Road to the Sun.
