Our Story

Prairie Dog Brewing is a neighbourhood brewpub on 58th Ave SE. There is a deep rooted connection between our beer and food and the people we source all of the ingredients and materials from.

Our Brewmaster continuously works on a beer menu focusing on variety, with traditional English, American, and European styles as well as edgy examples having high hopping rates and ingredients like local honey, sugar beet, coffee, chocolate, and hot peppers.

Our Red Seal Chef has created a menu of "low and slow" items specializing in Texas-style smoked meats like brisket and pull pork inspired by and infused with craft beer. Prairie Dog Brewing has the largest BBQ pit of its kind in Canada with a capacity to BBQ up to 1800 lbs of meat at once.

Barrel-aged and wild/sour beer are becoming a focal point of the brewery as it matures, with several guest taps offering interesting beer from the local area and abroad. All brewing takes place in full view of guests and the ownership team are involved in day-to-day operations serving guests and receiving face-to-face guest feedback.

Brewpub staff are trained and incentivized to become Cicerone Beer Server certified, the gold standard in providing key credentials for servers, ensuring quality Beer Server knowledge and expert guest advice on different brewing techniques, taste and food pairings. Prairie Dog cares about the community and its staff, so we pay our staff fair wages and encourage a work/life balance. We also have initiatives that will be started once we are stable to help give back to the community that is ever so important to us. We value our people and our planet first.

With one of the Founders holding her masters degree in Chemistry with experience in QA and procedure writing, the brewery is building a quality management program superior to that of most other area breweries
