We would like to invite you to participate in an important student-led initiative focused on enhancing campus navigation and accessibility at the University of Calgary.

As a valued member of our university community, your input and perspective are greatly appreciated. The aim of this project is to develop an Indigenized UCalgary Campus Map and Centralized Resource Guide that meets the diverse needs of students, faculty, staff, and kin. By participating in a brief survey about the Indigenized Campus Map and Centralized Resource Guide, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the creation of a more inclusive and user-friendly campus environment. The Indigenous Student Access Program (ISAP) is currently hiring two positions for the role of ISAP Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS) Mentor for INDG 201-02 and UNIV 205-01 for the Fall 2024 semester. ISAP PASS leaders are scheduled for 10 hours of work per week for 13 weeks, beginning in the first week of classes. No work is scheduled during semester breaks or on statutory holidays. Successful applicants are also paid for the completion of PASS leader training prior to the semester.

The Indigenous Student Access Program (ISAP) is currently hiring for the role of ISAP Program Assistant (Job ID: 32216). This position is part-time from mid-August to the end of December (roughly 4 months). We will be prioritizing hiring an Indigenous student that attends UCalgary if possible.

This position will work a 21-hour work week minimum. The ISAP Program Assistant will report to Vaughan McMillan - Indigenous Student Success and Retention Specialist, Writing Symbols Lodge, and will collaborate and assist the Indigenous Student Access Program Coordinator, as well as with other Writing Symbols Lodge staff. June is Pride and National Indigenous History Month. This month and every month, Writing Symbols Lodge celebrates and honours the diverse cultures, traditions and contributions made by all Indigenous communities across Canada.

Lets continue to celebrate and support our Indigenous community, LGBTQIA+ and Two-Spirit individuals. As a reminder, Indigenous Peoples Day is June 21, 2024!

The Honour Song is a tribute to UCalgary graduates, their families and their communities; it has been included in convocation proceedings since 2018. Participants are encouraged to bring their own Hand Drum, with extras provided as needed.

The Writing Symbols Lodge invites Indigenous Students to participate in a Sweat Lodge Ceremony with Traditional Knowledge Keeper Hal Eagletail. Hal Eagletail is Dene from Tsuut’ina Nation, Treaty 7. This Sweat will take place in Tsuut’ina.
