RSV Vaccinations are now available

🩼Vaccine: Arexvy, vaccine, has been authorized for use in Canada for the prevention of lower respiratory tract disease caused by RSV in adults 60 years of age or older.

Arexvy, has been shown to be 82-per cent effective at preventing lower respiratory tract disease cause by RSV.

Arexvy vaccine is not covered by Alberta Health Care, however most extended health plans cover it.

The last week of October is Respiratory Therapy Week in Canada. It celebrates the respiratory therapy profession & the outstanding dedication & passion of RTs.

Who are RT’s and what do they provide within our healthcare system?
Respiratory Therapists provide healthcare to people at all stages of life. RTs care for newborns who are having difficulty breathing. They assist people of all ages who need respiratory support because they are critically ill or severely injured. RTs provide support for those with chronic heart and lung diseases, and for people who may require long term respiratory care due to disability or disease.

Mental Health Bridge Clinic

Varsity Medical & Wellness will be creating a bridge between the Family Physician, Psychiatry and other professional resources that specialize in Mental Health and Addictions. Wait times can often be upward to one year or more from the time a referral is made to when the patient is able to be seen by a specialist. Dr. Taylor is able to see these individuals during this time to provide counselling, resources, management of medications, as well as addiction screening and assessment. He believes in treating each individual as a whole in able to treat the root cause which helps to achieve the best possible outcome. Even if an individual is waiting to get into their Family Physician, they are able to utilize this service.
