Rainbows and water textures of Skogafoss in Iceland.
I used my 100-400mm to zoom in on a section of the waterfall and to avoid the crowds 😅.

I just realized today is the 10-year anniversary of my first-ever Milky Way photo! It was almost another year before I tried it again, but after the next couple of night excursions, I was hooked. Night photography is the reason I started hiking and scrambling and it changed my life in so many ways.
Here’s a Milky Way for each year. All are taken with Nikons (from a d3s to a z8, including an astromodifed d810 and z6ii) some are single exposures, some are blended, some are stacked, some are tracked, and some are a complicated mix of techniques.
A gorgeous sunrise on Haida Gwaii. I can't wait to head back here with Viktoria Haack Photography for one of our Escape to Nature series Workshops. It's such a unique area and truly feels like you stepped into another world.
Interested in joining us May 1-8, 2025? Send me a message! We only have two spots left.
A beautiful and calm night spent photographing the Milky Way in the Canadian Rockies ✨
Self portrait with the Milky Way.
I scared some kids that were floating down the river with their headlamps this night. I heard them coming while I was working with my gear in complete darkness. Being the 😈 person I am, I quickly flashed my headlamp down at them from a cliff and enjoyed their screams of "what was that? is something out there?!"
I love catching a grizzly with its claws out...from a distance.
Nikon z8 + 600mm with 1.4x tele
I spotted this moose and her calf from quite a distance. I wasn't even sure what I was seeing in the water since I was trying to look through some trees. Shooting through the branches and leaves with 840mm gave me a view of the cute duo splashing through a river.
Butt scootin' cutie 😄
A windy day in Waterton is business as usual. You can have a lot of fun with the waves, coloured rocks, and different shutter speeds.
Bear cubs are so cute when they stand up!
I'm getting ready to hit the road! First up is some half day workshops with Viktoria Haack Photography in Waterton and my first hiking photography workshop as a solo guide. Then the Lightchasers Nature Photography Conferences in Pincher Creek where I am returning as the Field Sessions Overlord. And the finale in southern Alberta will be a four day Escape to Nature Workshop in Waterton with Viktoria.
All the fun. All the sleep deprivation.

Blue is less commonly seen in aurora displays, but I've seen it twice this year. Once during my Finland workshop and again during the big KP8 event last weekend.
Aurora so intense you could see the distinct colours with your eyes.
Were you able to get out and see it? The aurora oval extended quite far south last night.
I love the stark twisted trees around the Kaldoaivi Wilderness in Finland. The aurora danced behind them, lining up with the Milky Way during nautical twilight.
I've been to some amazing places in Canada. These trips have usually been motivated by trying to catch the Milky Way.
I lucked out with smoke free skies for a couple of days while in the Chilcotin last year.
This grim metalhead was very excited to see a little rainbow appear while trying to catch water swirling around the ice diamond 🤘🌈
A puffin chillin' in snow and wind.
The Milky Way rising above mountains and fog.
A very colourful burst of aurora.
Various particles excited at different altitudes are why we can see a variety of colours.
The first rule of Puffin Fight Club is...
A calm morning at Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon
I spent my morning getting aggressively exfoliated and wishing for safety glasses. Hours, later, showered, teeth brushed and flossed and I'm still enjoying the grit of black sand.
How bad was the wind? Well, it pushed the tops of the waves in the opposite direction...
All images were hand held today.
My first day in Iceland was a little crazy. A 6 hour drive broken up by a couple of photo stops, aurora, sunrise, and wildlife.
I'm kind of happy to have a restful evening 😅.
This aurora event wasn't particularly strong, but the purples that appeared were fantastic.
I'm so excited to be a part of the The Establishment Brewing Company's International Women's Day Beer! My self-portrait with the Milky Way on a ridge in the Canadian Rockies is on the label of their new beer release, Rebel Girl. A portion of the proceeds from beer sales will be given to Pink Boots Society - an international organization of women and non-binary folks in the fermented and alcoholic beverage industry working collectively to support and advance the careers of its members through educational scholarships, committed to advocating for a safe and equitable industry as well as promoting diversity and inclusion.
Head down to Establishment Brewing to get some cans or try it on tap!
I love photographing waterfalls and can easily get caught up for hours. The sound of the water, whether its a massive rush or little tumble, is soothing.
For this image, I tried to find a shutter speed that captured the textures in the water as it fell and ghost like shapes of mist that were lit up by the morning sun.
