Super exciting news for downtown Chatham! this group of individuals are working hard to revitalize the downtown Chatham centre! And be sure to check out their previous projects!

There has been some misinformation going around regarding the new look for the downtown mall, and we here at JP Contractors would like to set the record straight on a few issues.

The press release that happened yesterday (July 15th 2024) regarding an upgrade to the mall has nothing to do with the Municipality of Chatham Kent. The municipality has purchased the Sears portion of the Mall only. They plan on releasing their drawings and plans for that site shortly.

But back to the rest of the mall....4 owners; Rob Meyers, Jessica Myers, Don Tetrault and Ron Nydam (JP Contractors) are the owners of the mall and have been for the past few years. All of these people live in Chatham Kent and have made huge waves in our community. They have been investing in downtown for years already. Some of the projects just in the downtown Chatham area that they have completed are the following: Retro Suites Hotel, Purple Pansy building, Access Open Minds building (140 King), Myrtle Flower Shop (37 Llewllyn), Crow City Barber (33 Llewllyn), FX Decorating Warehouse + ATJ + Revolve (144 King), Renovations to the old Dutch Market, 44 4th Street, 202 King, 90 King, Nest Realty (148 Wellington), 85 Queen street and the list goes on. This group is the biggest reason why we even have beautiful restored old buildings in our downtown.

This group has poured their heart and souls and talents into our community. They are now planning to spend THEIR OWN money to repair the old Downtown Chatham Center, which has gone downhill in the past 10 years +. This will be a game changer for downtown Chatham.

This is NOT municipally funded. This is NOT being paid from your tax dollars. Your taxes are NOT increasing from this. It is strictly an act of goodwill to better our downtown and community from a group of individuals who have already done so much.

We believe that the citizens of Chatham should be happy that this group is willing to take on a project of this size that will have such a big impact on our community. So please do not spread false rumors. Everyone in this group has lived in Chatham the majority of their lives, their track record for getting things done is impeccable and they deserve to be commended for their work to change our city.

They have been diligently working on plans and drawings for the past year which has led us to where we are today. Your support for this project would be much appreciated.

Please spread the word and help stop all these false rumors and negative comments. To see such a large investment into our community is something to be celebrated, not criticized.

JP Contractors will be heading this work. So rest assured, we will be devoting our time and resources to make this dream become reality. We have already been restoring downtown Chatham one building at a time and we are looking forward to starting this project that will change the look of downtown.
