We would appreciate all the help we can get. It is a big job but many hands makes light work.
We did not get enough support to keep it open. Sorry
Great news for our local legions in Chilliwack & Kent, and legions across BC.
The Province is providing new relief funding to ensure legions can continue providing essential community services to its 47,000 members in B.C., including veterans and their families.
The Royal Canadian Legion BC/Yukon Command will receive $1.5 million in one-time support to help offset the impacts of the global COVID-19 pandemic and recent circuit-breaker restrictions to stop the spread of COVID-19.
Thank you to Royal Canadian Legion Branch 280 Vedder Golden for bringing their challenges to my attention, advocating so strongly, and making it possible for me to carry the voices of members to Victoria.

Happy Friday! This week’s story is from a couple of weeks back...
A wife of a Veteran called in requesting financial assistance.
The Veteran was placed in hospice care and moved to a Long-Term Care facility. His wife was unsure how to pay for his new living arrangements while being able to stay at her home.
After gathering information from the wife, our Service Officers reached out to the local branch for help with funding.
We noticed that the Veteran had registered a VAC Claim but never ended up following through with the paperwork. We contacted the Veteran’s doctor to complete the medical questionnaire and had his VAC Claim expedited.
Within 10 business days, the Veteran’s VAC Claim was approved and now his wife can help with all of her financial obligations.
Presently, our Service Officers have helped the Veteran's wife to complete the Long-term Care Subsidy through VAC to help assist her with more of the costs.
Thank you to the branch for supporting Sask Command and the Veteran’s family!
Enjoy your long weekend

Meet David Brideau, Williams Lake Branch #139's newest President.
Serving in the CAF, has helped him to understand the need for organizations such as the Royal Canadian Legion. Having a ‘heart for veterans’, the biggest benefit of serving at his branch is being part of veterans’ lives. Belonging to the Royal Canadian Legion gives him the opportunity to welcome other veterans into a new community. A community where there are others who understand their experiences.

The results are in! Branch 4 members voted 82% in favour of accepting the offer to purchase out property. This means that we will have to move out by September. There will be a lot of work to catalog everything and prepare what will happen to our memorabilia etc.

Budget 2021 states that an almost $400M investment will go towards the Department of National Defence to help with legal costs for formal complaints related to misconduct, in addition to new resources to work on eliminating sexual misconduct within the military.
We applaud this decision, along with new external oversight mechanisms to bring greater independence to the processes of reporting and adjudicating sexual misconduct in the military, a crucial element expressed by Veterans the Legion has served.
