The Optimist Club of Chilliwack is sponsoring a free swim for youth ages 18 and under at the Leisure Landing Centre. Arrive between 2:00 and 5:00 for your free entry (space permitting) on Thursday December 28th to take advantage of this free swim. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult who will also get in free.

On December 28, 2023 the Optimist Club of Chilliwack is hosting a free swim for children and youth under the age of 18! See our web site for more details.

We have a couple of spots left in the 9:30am (Wednesday) infant massage program starting at the end of January at the neighbourhood learning centre.

What a wonderful night we had celebrating the season with some of the wonderful volunteers who help to run our Better Beginnings and Chilliwack Family Place Network programs! We got crafty together making festive swags and had lots of great laughs. We are so thankful for the volunteers who make Chilliwack such a wonderful and welcoming place for families with young children! Not all of our volunteers could make it tonight, but we are hopeful that they all know how much they are appreciated!

A very generous local business is offering a new artificial tree and all the trimmings to make them spectacular to theee local families who don’t already have a Christmas tree. We think we might even be able to arrange delivery this week. Please comment below if your family is in need of a Christmas tree. If we have more than three families respond we will do a draw tomorrow (Wednesday) late morning.

East Family Place drop in will run from 9:30-11 at 46551 Chilliwack Central Rd. tomorrow (Thursday) morning in the big gym. We have lots of ride on toys, a basketball hoop and other fun activities for burning off energy during long rainy days. Tomorrow the kids will be making a Santa face.

Dec 9th) Chilliwack Chief's game donated! This will be a toque toss game which makes it extra fun! Please comment below with how many tickets your family (for people 4 and up as under 4 are free) could use if you'd like to be in the draw for tickets. We will be drawing for the tickets tomorrow morning. Please only comment below to be entered into the draw if you can A) pick up the tickets from the neighbourhood learning centre tomorrow afternoon and 😎 Attend the game on Saturday for sure. This is what’s happening at our Downtown and Sardis Family Places this month.

We hope that you will join us at East Chilliwack Family Place tomorrow from 9:30-11 in the big gym downstairs at 46551 Chilliwack Central road for some free fun! We have ride on toys, basketball hoops and more for gross motor play and lots of fun toys and activities for imaginative play as well! For craft time this week we will be making bell decorations for you to take home and put on your tree!

We are delighted that our friends from the child development centre will be offering infant massage for our families at the Neighbourhood Learning Centre at the end of January. PM Lana Hergott to register for this free class for parents of babies who are not moving yet.

We are offering a drop in vaccination clinic at the neighbourhood learning centre this coming Thursday from 10am-12:30. If you'd like your child to receive any childhood immunization, our Fraser Health Nurses will have them with them (and will be able to access your health records on their computers, they just need your health care card #). Covid boosters and flu shots will also be available at this drop in clinic. The Neighbourhood Learning Centre (NLC) is located at 46361 Yale Rd. No appointment necessary! We are expecting to have lots of freshly picked carrots available to give away after the clinic (be sure to see us afterwards to pick up carrots should they arrive)

This table tennis set is being offered to one of our families. Includes net, paddles and balls.

Would you like the chance to do some community service with your kids while also teaching them about where food comes from (and getting to keep fresh, delicious food for yourself?) Tomorrow, Saturday morning between 9am-noon the Valley Permaculture guild is gleening a carrot field in Yarrow that has been machine harvested. There are tons of carrots left on (and in) the ground and you can help prevent them from going to waste!! You can keep 1/2 of whatever you pick and the other 1/2 will go to families in our community. Pm me if you’d like to participate and I’ll send you the address and details. This would be a really fun, meaningful family activity and a nice way to spend time with friends.

This lovely white mini crib (with mattress) is being offered to a local family. Measurements have been added to the photo. Please comment below if you'd like it for your little one. If several people comment we will do a draw for it.

The Paramount Building is officially on the BC Housing Registry! There will be two steps for interested tenants to complete.

On Thursday morning East Chilliwack family place has some fun planned! You are welcome to wear costumes if you’d like to! There will be a fun sponge painting activity (sponge painting paper pumpkins!) and goody bags to take home! Drop ins are absolutely welcome, but if you know you’re coming please comment below to help us with planning. Please bring along a snack to share if you’re able to. You’ll find east chilliwack family place in the gymnasium at Eden Mennonite church on Chilliwack Central rd.

On Wednesday morning we will have little pumpkins available to paint with your children at Greendale Family Place. We will also have a special Halloween themed book for each family to take home. We hope you can join in the fun between 9:30-11am at 6550 Sumas Prairie rd (the little house with the fenced front yard kitty corner to Greendale Elementary )

Our toy supply is running low! Our supply of pre-loved toys brightens the days of both babies and parents and provides important stimulation and joy for our little clients.

Drop off toys in good condition to the Meadow Rose Society office Tuesdays to Thursdays from 11am-1pm.

You are welcome to join us at our Field trip to Petey's pumpkin patch tomorrow at 10am. Please have exact change ready at the gate ($12/child - each paying child can bring an adult at no charge. Siblings 1 and under are also free with a paying child). The weather is looking like it might cooperate with us! We do recommend boots in the pumpkin patch though!
