Have you met Emily? Though she's a newer face here at Quinn's, Emily is a floral designer with a truly expert eye for detail — before joining our shop, she was an esthetician for 7 years!

Though she admits she doesn't have a green thumb, Emily says dahlias, peonies, and ranunculus have her heart. She's a morning person, a forest-lover, and her favourite splurges are all about skin care and self-care.

Emily, we are so glad to have you and your love for beauty on our team!

Today is a special day for me as I celebrate my 5th wedding anniversary with my wonderful husband, Nate.
As a florist, flowers always play a big role in my life, both professionally and personally.
We didn't know what the years ahead would hold but we knew we wanted to celebrate at a place that holds a lot of meaning for us, with the people who mean the most, and with joyful, colourful blooms.

Orchids have a reputation for being hard to please, but once you know what they like, your orchids will happily flourish and flower!

Ikebana is an ancient Japanese art of floral arranging, that highlights florals and other botanical elements as a way to connect with nature, through minimal, elegant, design. We offer some really excellent and simple tools that can get you started with your own playful exploration of ikebana, including floral frogs in a variety of sizes, and a sweet little mini Ikebana kit that includes a some further instructions (and makes a great gift).

Our top tips for beginning your own ikebana designs:

1.Choose your florals and greenery. Think seasonality and sculptural forms, choosing a few different florals and greens for variation in your design. Imperfection and unusual shapes are welcome here — after all, the Japanese also coined the term wabi-sabi!

2. Choose your vessel. For this style you want a shallow dish or bowl to hold the arrangement

3. Compose your design. The floral frog, also called a kenzan, is a key tool here, a solid base covered with tiny spikes that will hold the stem upright in the water. Add your stems, one at a time, at a slight angle, leaving lots of open space and paying attention to the overall shape and form of your arrangement.
