When a female squirrel finds another baby squirrel, she gives him food and makes sure that he is an orphan and has no mother or father, and after 3 days of investigation and actually making sure that he is without family, she takes him gently and feeds him and makes him familiar with living with her and her young as if he was one of her children.

The female squirrel is unique in receiving her husband when he returns with food with kisses and wooing him in order to ease the fatigue of bringing food to her and her young.

The male squirrel always expresses his love for his female by giving her the most beautiful roses and the largest walnuts and almonds...

The coolest thing just happened.

Just now, under the stars, I walked up the high hill behind our home to our lookout - it’s a large, octagon-shaped, redwood open-air structure, standing erect on tall stilts. The air was brisk and a silence shrouded the land.

Everything was so dark and silent . . . except for the shimmering stars overhead. Usually when I sit on the built-in benches on the lookout, I’m asking the Creator for signs and messages.

But this time, I said out loud. “Today I’m not asking for any signs or messages. I just want to hang out under the stars. Honestly, I don’t need a sign.”

Almost the instant I said that I didn’t need a sign, a HUGE shooting star splashed across the heavens. Wow!

Just as the shooting star soared across the sky, an awareness soared through my soul. Even if we are not praying, and even if we are not focused on the Creator, the Divine is always at our side. We are never alone. Spiritual forces are always supporting and loving us. Even when we are uncertain, or have fallen into a dark hole - speaking from recent personal experience - Spirit is only a thought away.
