🌍 Happy World Listening Day!👂
Today, we celebrate the incredible power of listening. At Central Healing Counselling, we believe that truly listening to one another is the first step towards understanding, healing, and growth.
👂 Listening isn’t just about hearing words—it's about being present, empathetic, and open-hearted. Whether it's a friend in need, a colleague, or yourself, take a moment today to listen deeply. You might be surprised at the connections you make and the insights you gain.
Let's honour this day by practicing active listening, spreading kindness, and fostering meaningful conversations.🌻
Have you heard of EMDR but aren't quite sure what it is or how it works? 🤔 Let's break it down!
What is EMDR?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a powerful therapeutic approach that helps people heal from trauma and distressing life experiences. 🧠✨
How Does It Work?
🌿Assessment: We start by understanding your history and identifying the specific memories or issues you want to address.
🌿Preparation: We teach you essential coping skills and strategies to ensure you're ready for the EMDR process.
🌿Desensitization: Through guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation, we help your brain process and reframe traumatic memories.
🌿Installation: We reinforce positive beliefs and emotions, replacing the distressing ones.
🌿Body Scan: We ensure your body feels at peace, free from physical tension related to the trauma.
🌿Closure: We make sure you leave each session feeling calm and empowered.
🌿Reevaluation: We track your progress and adjust the therapy as needed.

Did you know we offer counselling for children aged 0-5 and their caregivers?
🌱Counselling for children (0-5) and their caregivers can aim to promote secure and healthy relationships between caregivers and children through strengths-based parenting strategies.
🌿Circle of Security is a program designed to help parents and caregivers understand and respond to their children’s emotional needs, promoting secure attachment and healthy development. Secure attachment helps children feel safe and supported, fostering their social, emotional, and cognitive growth.
💚We use reflective processes to help caregivers understand their own feelings and needs and those of their children. Sessions will focus on promoting children’s social-emotional development, building trust and security between children and caregivers, encouraging children and caregivers’ emotion regulation and self-reflection, and helping caregivers address challenging behaviors.
For more information or to schedule a session, please contact us at 📞613-703-6786 or [email protected]
Growing up can be challenging, and stress is a part of that journey. Unfortunately we can't shield our children from it, but we can provide them with the tools they need to manage stress effectively. Here are some valuable tips to guide your children on this path:
🌱 Open Communication: Create a safe and non-judgmental space for them to share their feelings.
🌱 Mindfulness and Relaxation: Teach your children simple mindfulness exercises and relaxation techniques. Breathing exercises, meditation, and yoga can help them calm their minds and reduce stress.
🌱 Healthy Habits: Encourage regular exercise, a nutritious diet, and adequate sleep. These habits are crucial for physical and mental well-being.
🌱 Positive Thinking: Teach your kids to reframe negative thoughts and focus on their strengths. Positive affirmations can be a helpful tool in changing their perspective.
🌱 Social Support: Emphasize the importance of friendships and relationships. Encourage your children to seek support from friends, family, or a trusted adult when they're feeling overwhelmed.
Remember, as parents and caregivers, we play a significant role in modeling these behaviors. By managing our own stress effectively and demonstrating these skills, we can inspire our children to do the same.
We are here to support both you and your child on their journey towards stress management and emotional well-being. If you need guidance or have questions, please don't hesitate to reach out. Together, we can empower the next generation to handle life's challenges with resilience and grace.

Being outdoors has numerous benefits for mental health. Here are some ways how being outdoors can improve your mental health:
🌱Exposure to natural environments: Being in nature has been shown to reduce stress and anxiety, and increase feelings of well-being.
🌱Increased physical activity: Physical activity releases endorphins, which are mood-boosting chemicals that can help reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety.
🌱Sunlight exposure: Sunlight is a natural source of vitamin D, which has been linked to improved mood and mental health.
🌱Social interaction: Being outdoors often provides opportunities for social interaction, whether it's with friends, family, or other members of the community. Social connection can help reduce feelings of loneliness and improve overall well-being.
🌱Reduced screen time: Reducing screen time and engaging in outdoor activities can help reduce stress, improve concentration, and promote better sleep, all of which can positively impact mental health.
🌱Enhanced cognitive function: Being outdoors allows your mind to rest and recharge, which can boost mental clarity and cognitive performance.
🌱Mindfulness and relaxation: Being in nature can help promote mindfulness, which is the practice of being fully present in the moment without judgment. This can help reduce stress & anxiety and improve emotional regulation.
Make sure to carve out some time this weekend to enjoy nature and reap the mental health benefits it offers.

At Central Healing Counselling, we believe in the transformative power of letting go—whether it's past hurts, regrets, or anything holding you back from living your best life.
Letting go is not just about forgetting or ignoring the past; it's about acknowledging it, learning from it, and moving forward. It's a conscious decision to free yourself from negativity and create space for new experiences and joy.
Holding on to grudges or past mistakes can lead to anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues. Letting go can bring peace of mind and emotional stability.
How to Start Letting Go:

🍃 Seek Professional Support: Sometimes, letting go requires guidance. Our experienced therapists at Central Healing Counselling are here to support you through this journey with compassion and expertise.
🍃 Practice Mindfulness: Techniques such as meditation, deep breathing, and mindful activities can help ground you in the present moment, making it easier to release past burdens.
🍃 Set New Goals: Focus on the future by setting achievable goals that excite and motivate you. This shift in focus can help diminish the power of past negativity.
Take the first step towards a lighter, brighter future. Schedule a session with one of our compassionate therapists today and start your journey of letting go. Visit our website www.centralhealing.ca or call us at 613-703-6786 to book an appointment.
