If you are aware of other services in our area, that are not listed, please feel free to share with us (including private professionals)!

Introducing ABA at home!
It can be overwhelming when parents want to make changes at home but don't know where to start, the list can feel defeating before even beginning.
Our goal is to provide families with ABA strategies on our page that they can refer to at home. We hope to assist in making home life feel more balanced.
So here is our first post!
1. Small goals
Lets narrow down those goals/tasks to smaller reachable goals/tasks
Break down the goal by starting with a smaller step (e.g. expect your child to put legs in the pant legs independently or pull pants up from knees rather than completing the whole dressing task independently)
Take your time to set goals, think about how you can adjust the goal and break it down.
2. Be consistent!
Choose a specific routine or time the skill/goal is to be practiced each day, this helps your child predict when they are to do the task
Change is hard! Be sure you stick to the new expectation and provide your child support where they might have difficulty!
(provide a demonstration then have them try, offer gentle guidance)
Reaching success even with support is an accomplishing feeling for both, parent and child!
3. Prioritize making sure the task/goal is fun and engaging! You can do this by singing their favourite songs, including different materials, or having a race
Actively participate in completing the task/goal with your child, not only does this model what you expect from your child but it can also encourage your child's participation!
Recognize and give praise to ALL efforts your child gives when working on the task/goal. Make the new task/goal a positive experience for your child and you!
Our goal is to support our students to explore, try new things and grow each day 🌷
