Instagram made this reel for me. I thought it was fun. 🤷♂️🤷♂️ I’m working full time these days. Enjoying my work but I definitely miss having long spacious practice sessions and not being burdened by adult responsibilities.
When I started Iyengar yoga in 2011 I was looking for a way to meditate and help focus my attention so I could do better in my courses at UPEI. Instead my teacher taught me to stand on my own two feet. To learn to stand on my feet properly I stand on my head. 🤷♂️🤸♀️💪 Intro Saturday 9:30-10:45am Intermediate 1 Wednesday 5:30-7pm.
Happy Canadian Thanksgiving! I am a pretty lucky guy. I have such an amazing family that supports and loves me. Firmly in the Uncle Era.
Are you interested to feel some of the benefits of an Iyengar Yoga practice? Here is an invitation to stop scrolling for a moment and connect with your body. First up is chaturanga push-ups with the wall. Many of us struggle with generating strength and stability in the upper body. Next post is Ardha Uttanasana with the hands at the wall. This is an awesome pose to address tight areas in the body like the upper back and hamstrings. The thirst pose Ardha Parsvottanasana is a continuation. It will help you address your calf muscle on the back leg and the hamstring on your forward leg. Like, comment, and save this post for more! Happy practising.
I am running! I am running on a comprehensive plan that tackles the interconnected issues our island is facing. On April 3rd make a difference. Vote Green.
Join for me for a yoga break! Parshva Hastasana is an excellent pose to improve circulation through your next and shoulder. It is a go to shoulder recalibration for me and many of my students! I showed with my fingers pointing to the wall behind me. Give it a try and let me know how it goes in the comment section below! ✌️✌️
Due to the extreme cold Saturday classes are cancelled for this week! Check out this way to practice Urdvha Hastasana. This simple pose is deceptively potent. Using the wall like this is an awesome way to open up your shoulder region while learning the arm and should actions for more complex poses. Follow, comment, and like for more! What part of your body do you want to address next?!
I have been practicing Iyengar Yoga since I was 19 - more than 10 years now. I’m 2020 I said good bye to my 20s hello 30s look out 40s! I can tell this past decade has been rich with learning potential. I’m looking forward to nourishing my practice and moving into the new decade of my life with zeal and enthusiasm! Unfortunately a lot of the depth, nuance, and philosophy of this practice cannot be captured by the camera. People viewing this may believe yoga is about being bendy or something like that. Read between the lines and see the years of consistent and dedicated practice. If you don’t get it? Better luck next time! ✌️❤️🕉
My mind is working these days to intellectually digest some #yoga #philosophy. I am trying to find ways to link and better integrate theoretical precepts from #yog #shastra and the modern day practice of asana and pranayama in #iyengaryoga. If you are learning from these videos please show me some love in the comments! Thanks for listening !👂 ✌️✌️
Sometimes if we are trying to feed a fussy toddler we pretend the incoming nutrition is an aeroplane and turn it into a game. I thought I would try a similar method to make the concepts of stability and comfort a little more digestible for a mainstream audience! Let me know in the comments if it worked!
Just a social experiment folks! Hit up the comments if you want more content like this in your feed!
Hi! Addressing a new term today! Please like, comment, share, and follow if you want to see more of this content! Bridging theory and practice! Peeling back some of the nuances of yoga philosophy helps me clarify my motivations for practice. Any blunders in articulations (I have caught a few already) are my own. Any wisdom gleaned from watching me ramble comes from the tenacity and yoga shakti of Mr BKS Iyengar. Thanks for watching.
