It's finally opening night! And with that, we conclude our series of profiles by focusing on both the creative team and crew of - The Sequel
The show's creative team are all pillars of our company. Lesley Ellam has directed four of our major musicals, starting with "Chicago" in 2013 and most recently with "Mamma Mia!" in 2020. Cathy Durham is the creator of our senior's theatre group, Act II Theatre. She's also a big Ken Ludwig fan, having directed many of his plays for us. ("Leading Ladies" in both 2012 and 2023, "Lend Me a Tenor," and more.) And our fearless leader (AKA our company president), Lise Richer, has produced more shows for us than we can keep count.
Our crew is also made up of longtime SVTC members. Paul Aubin and Maddie Thompson diligently ensure that the cast's microphones pick up every nuance and expression, while Michael DeWolfe is in the tech booth making sure all lights and sound work smoothly. Our costumer, Linda Labelle, once again works her magic to make everybody look stellar. Putting it all together is our tech director extraordinaire, Peter Labelle, for whom we're forever grateful. None of this would be what it is without him.

Today we shift gears and turn our attention to the team members behind the scenes of - The Sequel. Our onstage trio features some of Cornwall's finest musicians who've been stalwart members of our company for many years.
Lana Watson has only recently taken up the drums, but she's come an extraordinarily long way in a short amount of time. Not only will she keep the beat steady, but she'll also sing two duets in the show. Bassist Claude Champagne has been a steady anchor in the orchestra for a great many of our musicals. We're grateful to him not only for lending us his musical talents, but for supporting the SVTC as a patron, too. Musical Director and pianist Penny Bédard (who also happens to be Lana's mom) is renowned in Cornwall's music community as an in demand music teacher and performer. Whether onstage or in the orchestra pit, there's absolutely no mistaking her gifts.

Before we move on to profiling the crew behind - The Sequel, we'll turn our attention to three more members of our stellar cast.
Bernadette Piché-Proulx is a woman of many talents who performed with the Port Colborne Operatic Society in Niagara prior to joining the SVTC. She gave a truly memorable turn as the Bird Woman in our production of "Mary Poppins" last February. She's now hard at work as one of the co-producers of this season's children's musical, "Disney's Finding Nemo JR."
Augustine O'Connor is a longtime member of our company who has made his mark in many of our musicals, including "Elf the Musical JR.," "Mamma Mia!," and both the junior and full versions of "Mary Poppins." There's absolutely no mistaking his passion for performing.
The youngest member of our cast is Mara Meerburg, whose first ever experience in the world of theatre was playing Jane Banks in last February's "Mary Poppins." She now returns to the stage doing what she loves most, singing her heart out.

We've got more talent to shine our spotlight on today in our series of profiles for - The Sequel.
From hosting "Come Dine with Me Canada" to his vast array of voiceovers, Jamie Carr is one of Cornwall's brightest talents. You've also seen him in our productions of "Figments" and as King Arthur in "Monty Python's Spamalot." He'll return to the stage this February as Jim Haller in "All Shook Up."
Stéphanie Charette has made a most excellent name for herself as a performer in many of our shows, playing lead roles in our stagings of "Mamma Mia!," "There Goes the Bride," and "The Sound of Music." She's also a highly skilled choreographer, as you'll see in the moves she'll create for the cast of "All Shook Up."
Sophie Jean is an accomplished performer who made her SVTC debut earlier this year as Winnifred Banks in "Mary Poppins." She also sings with the Centennial Choir of Cornwall and you'll see her again as Miss Sandra in "All Shook Up."
Gabrielle Leroux is a longtime SVTC member who's returning to the stage after many years away. Last seen in "Nunsensations! The Nunsense Vegas R***e," we're absolutely delighted to have her back.

In today's post, we continue to proudly display the family ties that are abound in our upcoming fundraising show, "Sixth and Broadway - The Sequel."
Taryn Ramjist is an accomplished performer who you've seen in our productions of "There Goes the Bride," "Mary Poppins," and as the title role in "Disney's Moana JR." She's just begun attending the musical theatre and performance program at St. Lawrence College in Brockville, which she's already loving. You've seen her uncle, Greg Taylor, onstage in our productions of "Opening Night," "Arsenic and Old Lace," and "There Goes the Bride." He also sings and plays guitar as a member of The Pickheads, a folk/pop trio who've built an impressive local following since forming in 2023. Greg's son, Austin Taylor, made his SVTC debut in 2022 as the title role in "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer JR.," and has since added our stagings of "Puss in Boots," "Disney's Moana JR.," and "Mary Poppins" to his résumé.

Happy Saturday! - The Sequel truly shows how things run in the family, as you'll see in today's post.
From her performances in "Disney's Aladdin JR" right up to "Mamma Mia!," Jeneviève Malyon is no stranger to the SVTC, having also been seen in several productions at Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary School. Her father, Jimmy Malyon, has given a raft of unforgettable performances over the years, including Billy Flynn in "Chicago," Jean Valjean in "Les Misérables," and the Beast in "Disney's Beauty and the Beast."
Penny Bédard does double duty in our show as a performer and our musical director. Her versatility has shone in roles as diverse as Velma Kelly in "Chicago," Mrs. Potts in "Disney's Beauty and the Beast," and Miss Andrew in "Mary Poppins." Penny's daughter, Lana Watson, is also no stranger to the stage, having been seen many of our children's musicals from "Disney's Alice in Wonderland JR." to "Disney's Moana JR." You'll see her again soon as Bruce in "Disney's Finding Nemo JR."

It is with profound sorrow that we heard of the loss of Charlotte Light, a young and rising member of our theatre family.
Charlotte joined the SVTC in 2022, performing in "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer JR.," "Moana JR.," and "Mary Poppins." Her love of theatre arts only grew from there as she had recently been cast in our upcoming productions of "Sixth and Broadway - The Sequel," "Finding Nemo JR.," and "All Shook Up." She quickly became a greatly liked and respected member of our theatre family, and was well known for her kind and friendly personality.
