Can we use sunglasses for the Eclips?

You will be aware that we are expecting a total eclipse of the sun on the afternoon of Monday, April 8.

We want to remind everyone that it is critically important to not look directly at the sun without proper protective eye gear. Without protection, viewing the eclipse means potential serious eye damage including retinal burns, temporary or permanent vision loss and blurred vision. Since there are no pain receptors in the retina, this reaction will not be felt at all. It can take up to 12 to 48 hours for the signs to emerge.

Hello, I am a client of Arrowhead Pharmacy and Am so grateful for the help Joseph and his team provide me.
I am a proud indigenous person who is just learning their culture now as a result of generational trauma due to residential schools.

On this, September 30th, the second national annual day of truth and reconciliation.

We remember those children who lost their lives due to abuse or neglect at the hands of residential schools.

We remember the elders who are survivors of residential schools.

We remember the ancestors and people no longer with us.

We remember the parents who had their children taken for no reason other than that we have different beliefs and traditions than them.

We remember parents of those children who never returned home and never knew what happened to their children.

We remember those who’s negative choices in their lives resulted from trauma of trying to erase residential school memories.

I would like to share a poem I wrote last week and thank you to Joseph, for asking me to share what orange shirt day means to me.

They wouldn’t listen for years,
When we told them about you,
Brothers and sisters who never came home,
Their morning graves covered in dew.

Pure tears of the Great Creator,
Lamenting your senseless loss,
We asked for investigations,
The government lamented the cost.

We heard your unrestful keening,
Laying in your unmarked little graves,
Dying from disease, accidents and abuse,
Escapees or those who “misbehaved.”

You were stole from your loving communities,
Put in schools filled with abuse and neglect,
Parents who refused were arrested,
You were punished for speaking your dialect.

Your culture and identity were stolen,
From you and generations to come,
I’m living that generational legacy,
My heart longed for the ceremonial drum.

We will learn from the survivors,
Your brothers, sisters and friends,
We will hold their stories to our hearts,
While white men try to make amends.

I can’t offer them your forgiveness,
Just contemplate giving them mine,
As I finally learn our culture,
Burning sage, to***co and pine.

We must bring you home now,
To the community who loves you best,
Sleep sweet little children,
Now you can finally, truly rest.
