With every blanket that's dyed and every kit I create it takes me just a bit closer to 'retirement'... the time in my life when there is no more 'kits' and shipping.. when I finally do what I love .. teach and design patterns.

I have wanted to do this reproduction of an antique mat for a long, long time.. it is not stitched because it will be a sample for my teaching classes. Threads and stitches can completely change the look of a mat.. and I know this one is going to be absolutely beautiful once those threads are done.

My kits go fast and as I write there are only a few left

Mamma Kitty is ready for 'adoption' on my website.. please watch the video with the listing before 'adopting'.. she is very old and worn but only requires lots of love and hugs.. she will also need 'needle and thread and a lot of stuffing'.
Kits are very limited ... her clothing is from a very old (probably close to 100 year old very worn and tattered quilt.

Good day my friends,

I honestly thought it would never happen .. I am so very 'tech challenged' but my Grandson Avery has one of my very favourite mat now with digital download on my website.

I designed and created the mat for my Dad.. it tells the story of the first of our ancestors to come from Germany on the ship 'Sally' in 1752 to settle in Lunenburg Nova Scotia.

I know my Dad would be very proud of his great-grandson Avery Rafuse.

Avery will have more of my designs on PDF digital download in the coming weeks.

The story of this mat was written by me on the writing patch.
This pattern could tell the story of marriage, family, grandchildren and so many other special events in your life.

Sending along close up photos.. and just as the 'writing patch' is in my own handwriting .. so are the patterns.. hand drawn and handwritten just like the ladies who made those wonderful antique mats, early 19th century would have shared their patterns with friends and neighbours .

Just a few items left on my website from my 'Moth Auction Sale' a few days ago.
Minnie's Menagerie Age Dyed Vintage Wool Applique Rug designed and stitched by Cee. This mat has a lining from an old sugar bag from before 1910 from the Acadia Sugar Refinery that was destroyed in the Halifax Explosion of December 1910. Two war ship collided in Halifax Harbour destroying most of the city.

This mat is not only my design and work it carries an important bit of Nova Scotia history to you.

The 'Mamma's 5 Star base is designed and stitched by Cee and is from very early (most probably 20' 30' old black woolen blanket and would make a lovely table runner with your help to just add the backing and binding.

Both are reviewed in my Youtube video below.

So long ago, yet it seems like yesterday. The old house with my hand stencilled walls and the making of the Marriage Rug in memory of my Grandparents.
So many off white blankets to 'purge' and so it begins the dye pots are started today for the absolute last time to make this kit.

Tis a good feeling to know my 'ending of the kits' is nearer with each dye pot finished although there is still.. a long way to go.
Each pot done is one step closer to the next chapter in Cee's life and it's what I was meant to do.
