Kayley Dixon
Spoken Word Artist. Writer. Community Facilitator & Leader. Bus inquiries: [email protected]
Hi everyone! Over the last 7 years I have been active in community as a spoken word artist, writer, and community facilitator. I’ve performed at several events and spaces, and led numerous programs, projects, and events. My work has been predominantly focussed in Dartmouth North, but I have had engagements and projects that have taken me internationally.
I wear many hats, but spoken word & my community work has always been where I flourished the most authentically and organically and have been able to make the most impact.
My goal is to engage, empower, and elevate our youth and my community.
I’m deciding to look inwardly, in order for things to start blooming in the ways that I want them to outwardly. Thus, why I have decided to officially brand myself & my work & will be taking on business opportunities through this channel.

It was wonderful to welcome Kayley Dixon to the legislature this morning, to acknowledge her winning a Provincial Volunteer Award on Monday. I made a member statement which is pasted below. Congratulations Kayley! Thanks for all you do for our community!

Mr Speaker,
I rise today to congratulate Kayley Dixon on being honoured with a provincial volunteer award, this past Monday.
Kayley is a grade 12 student at Dartmouth High School, and a resident of Dartmouth North. She is aware, intelligent and kind and generous. She is one of the busiest people I know, and it is because she cares so much for others.
Kayley is a member of the Take Action Society. Last year, she organized a graduation celebration for the grade 9 students at John Martin Jr High and currently she is organizing a community Easter Egg hunt to take place in on of our local parks. She is an ambassador for the Nova Scotia International Student Program where she welcomes international students and offers them peer support and guidance, and she created “project care” for which she collected toiletries and donations and put together care packages to offer to street-involved people. The list of her generous acts goes on...
Kayley is also a very talented artist. The video of her poem “A Touch of Sexual Assault” has over 60 million views on YouTube. She has performed at the annual Walk Against Violence, at the Stop the Violence Spread the Love March and at many other events.
I ask the members of this house to join me in congratulating Kayley and in thanking her for her incredible contributions to Dartmouth North.
Hi friends!
I have been artistically absent... (is that a phrase? Can I make it one?😆) due to many reasons for a while! I hope you still love me because I still love you!!!
The last few years of my life have been great. Very busy growing. Graduated high school. Currently taking a year off and will be attending University next September.
I am hoping to come back to my poetic roots in the coming months. To create more, speak more, and work on becoming published.
I’ve had several speaking gigs & a few new pieces over the last few years but have kept it pretty local/ quiet. I’m hoping to compile everything and put together some videos or just publish it in another form in the near future. For future reference.... buy my book!!!
I’d like to thank everyone from the very bottom of my heart who has been supporting me since day 1 & who has reached out to share their stories/opportunities/ etc... y’all give me life. You’re the reason I am who I am.
Big ideas & big things coming soon. Stay tuned.
