I’m BACK!

New case numbers are lower every week, I received my 1st vaccine shot over 2 weeks ago, and I’m ready to accept your bookings once again!

I’d like to thank you all so much for your patience and understanding during the past few weeks as I closed my books to keep you and my family safe during the third wave.

I ask that you continue to be vigilant and if you or anyone in your household are experiencing any symptoms of Covid-19, or have been to any exposure sites, to please re-book your appointment until you’re in the clear.

As some of you already know, I've moved my massage practice to my home in downtown Dartmouth.

For me, this is a solution to the difficulties of being a working mom and artist in a pandemic. For you, this means less exposure to other people, a cozy and luxurious space, and the same care and thorough treatments you've come to expect from me.

Yes I can accept credit cards, yes your insurance is good here, and yes I can direct bill! Parking is plentiful on the side streets nearby.

As this is my private home I will not be accepting new clients here unless they are referred to me by people I know. So if you are already a friend or a client, please book in, and please tell your trusted friends and family about me! Your referrals are very valuable to me and your support means so much in these challenging times.

You can book in here, or message me for more options.

Many of you have seen that the Premier suddenly announced that many industries, including massage, are approved to return to work on June 5th. I wanted to post and clarify that before this can happen, our professional association is required to have an approved return-to-work plan, and so far that process is not complete. Until then, we are not permitted to re-open.

Once our plan is approved, insurance issues (around operating in a pandemic) have been resolved, we’ve sourced the required PPE, and we’ve put a system in place where we can safely and efficiently follow all protocols, we’ll be able to reopen. This will not be a simple or quick task.

Also, at this time the provincial mandates still only allow non-distanced contact between 2 family “bubbles”, so massage therapy and other touch-based industries are in direct violation of this; which doesn’t exactly make us feel confident about providing a safe environment for our clients and ourselves. On a personal note, this also makes childcare a huge challenge. We are not in a rush to go back at the expense of safety so we will be taking our time to do this right.

Personally I am very encouraged by the dwindling numbers of COVID-19 cases and minimal community spread. However as summer begins and people are itching to get out, I have concerns that the numbers may go back up again; and we are all concerned about a second wave. I am not keen to be part of an experiment to “see how it goes” in the first 2 weeks.

I am very aware that for many of you, lack of massage therapy results in increased pain, discomfort, stress, and reduced function; and I sincerely regret that we are in a situation where I cannot safely help out yet. I am missing my clients, missing providing much needed relief through massage, and of course missing the income, but I will be waiting a bit longer to make sure I am making the best decision for myself, my family, and my clients.

Watch this space for updates, and if you’re already one of my wonderful clients you will be the first to know when I am able to safely get back to work!

UPDATE: COVID-19 2 WEEK CLOSURE

Dear clients of Natural Path Wellness,

Out of an abundance of caution and care for our clients and community we have made the difficult decision to close the clinic for a period of time in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak.

We will close initially for a 2 week period (until the week of March the 30th), and then reassess the situation the weekend prior to the 30th to make any further decisions to maintain the closure. We will contact each client personally if we continue to stay closed. Please continue to book your appointments in the future by calling or emailing us, our answering service is still taking calls and we can still book clients remotely.
This decision was made as a group, by each of your caregivers here.

We truly feel that if we support our community in getting ahead of this pandemic now we can, as a community, save lives.
We do not make this decision lightly or out of panic, this decision is based on sound advice from our government and national and international health organizations warnings to take this pandemic seriously.
It is now very clear that many people will not know if they are infected until after they have potentially infected others.

The vast majority of those infected will experience only mild symptoms but a smaller, and no less important, sector of our communities will become gravely ill. The most important thing now is to protect the most vulnerable by “flattening the curve” and not adding to our already strapped medical system.

We thank you for the loyalty you have shown us and the kind and concerned words of support many of you have given us, this is an incredible time of hardship for some but also a wonderful time of solidarity and support. Please take that to heart and show your neighbors the same support and kindness!

In the meantime, look after yourselves and continue with your own self-care at home. Do your stretches, practice mindfulness and breathing. Find a free meditation or yoga class on line. Go for a walk outside in the fresh air!

Follow us on Facebook or Instagram where we will try to give frequent updates and also links to other self-care options.

In the words of Dr. Dan Suan, clinical immunologist and researcher in Australia,
“Social isolation is not an act of fear – it is an act of love”.

Stay well!

Yours in health,
Bronwen, Paulette, Lisa G., Mhairi, Shannon, Lisa A., Nicole and Laura

Geeking out at John Corry’s TMJ (essentially your “jaw joint”) Mastery workshop weekend! Feeling invigorated and excited to employ some fresh new techniques and concepts into my massage practice.

It is absolutely amazing how TMJ dysfunction is related to so many issues such as headaches, scoliosis, vocal strain, postural imbalances, whiplash, even low back and S/I joint issues...the list goes on!

Massage can give a lot of relief for those desk-work-related trigger points and chronic tension. It can help achieve better muscle balance and relieve stress too!
However strength training is an important part of the long term solution:

Work-related pain can be reduced with strength training!

“9 different randomized controlled trials from my research group during the last 10 years, all pointing in the same direction: Strength training at the workplace reduces work-related musculoskeletal pain.” 👏🏻👏🏻
