I just love this snowman! Can you guess what they used to make his ballcap?
This is my teacher! I’m doing my online learning.
This is a testimonial that the recent strike did have an impact at the very least on this little girl. I’m not stating that it was a negative or a positive impact but it clearly invoked something in her.
I say this because if you understand PLAY you understand that one of its roles is to allow us to process things that are going on in our lives. I therefore see a little girl who is currently processing her construct or mental representation and understanding of what school can be in today’s ever changing world.
There’s mix feelings that come with this. It some ways it saddens me that she’s experiencing turbulences in what school means to her but In other ways it’s a beautiful testimonial to how powerful and healing play is.
I have said it before but feel it’s worth mentioning again. The opposite of play isn’t work it’s depression. So remember to play today 😊
This is a very good visual. I have personally experienced children starting to strongly express that they want their own power around 24 months.
Kids don't want your power. They want their own. 💡

I just love Dr. Dan Siegel
How to comfort an upset child - Dr. Dan Siegel As I sat down to write to you, I got a text message from a mom. “I am struggling with my daughter’s temper and even more, my own temper.”Recently we sat down...
Where going on a bear 🐻 hunt!
This image doesn’t look like anything significant but to me it captures beautifully the essence of two sweet little girls who have captured my heart in so many ways.
You see snack time became a sort of significant ritual for them. They really enjoyed going to the park and would equally enjoy having snack at the park.
On the days where we went to the park early in the morning these two little girls would set out on a special quest to collect the perfect sticks to make their makeshift campfire. Once they had their campfire ready they would invite the rest of the children around their campfire ; where they would sit and enjoy their snack while they chatted away.
Old water paints has quickly become a favourite material in our outdoor play environment.

Last week as we where walking around and exploring puddles we happen to spot a worm in a puddle.
I said: “oh no that’s not a safe place for the worm”so I plucked it up and lay it on the grass.
It has been gloomy and rainy and the children have noticed that the worms are out. Yesterday we noticed worms on the pavement and the children asked if it was a safe place for them. I said:”no it isn’t”as I plucked up the worm and put it on the grass.
This morning a very observant and curious little girl asked if we could go to the park. She had noticed it was raining and therefore the worms would be out and we should go make sure they were safe❤️. We spend the morning finding worms on the pavement and making sure to return them to safety.
I have come to realize that I consider my work as also my creative expression and it’s the children and their interest that are my muse.
Recently I took note how the children were not investing any of their time in the kitchenette play area. However, I often seen them trying on costumes and trying to makes their own dresses etc. I could see them often trying to get a better view of themselves in the mirror regardless of the table being in the way.
Inspired by them and their zest and excitement for anything theatrical and dramatic I decided to put my kitchenette aside and create a bigger dress up area for them. It has been a marvellous success! I have observed them gazing at oneself in the mirror admiring their ensemble to dacing on the platform as they practice their dance moves to the dinosaurs stomp.
This photo sums up really nicely our day. It was a mix match of exploration; from making dresses, to trying on costumes and exploring water. All the water and puddles forming around us from the melting snow needed to be explored. I had no idea when I woke up this morning what my day with the children would look like. But like every day I knew that I would get a multitude of opportunities to experience wonder and joy with the children. Simply put moments like this one bring me tremendous joy and this was but one of the multitudes of moments I got to witness and experience today.
This is so important.
I just wanted to take a few moments to celebrate this little creative mind.
Brigid has endless creativity and I just love how she gets lost in process art and creates these beautiful pieces. It’s an absolute joy to watch her get lost in her creations and they never fail to make me smile.
Happy Valentine’s Day !!
I wish you all a wonderful day of celebrating love and affection with your loved ones.
I’m extremely grateful and fortunate to witness how children practice love, affection and compassion daily. They are marvellous little human beings and They fill my heart and soul with love, laughter, wonder and joy.
Play is the human instinct to educate itself!
I want to take a moment to celebrate this little guy. He truly loves the younger children in the daycare and he is so thoughtful, kind and patient with them.
He eagerly and patiently reads them their favourite books. And will also sing to them their favourite nursery rhymes. We are all so fortunate to have such a kind friend in our daycare.
