Hello dear ones. Its time I introduce myself. I am Andrea, an introvert who revels in being surrounded by crystals and altars, softness and sunshine, warmth and water. I am a Birth Worker, a sacred holder of the feminine codes, a yoga inspired movement guide, and a jewellery artist.

I am a solo Mama to a 7 year old little girl, Goddess, born of the Dragon who breathes fire and has the most tender of hearts. She takes after her Mama, hiding emotions within the folds of her being, until she nearly explodes, and then she does. With each outburst, I am both humbled and brought to my knees with wonder at how I contribute to who she is by my own inner workings.

I write you here from a salty bath, adorned with Rose Quartz and the scent of Jasmine, as my Moon blood begins to flow and release all that has been held over the past 28 day cycle.

I welcome you. I see you. I make myself vulnerable so that my depths may be seen and welcome. I acknowledge that in each moment, I have choice. My thoughts are a choice. My feelings are a choice. My actions are a choice. Each moment, each moment of forgetting and remembering, I steer myself closer to wholeness. Knowing, that right now, I am already whole.

Womxn's bodies were designed for this very innate process. Left in the dark quiet internal space that is created by the magic of birthing hormones + new baby spirits, all will usually unfold as needed.

Let's leave womxn alone, to find their way along this very sacred path. We hold the space, we arrive with grace, we go WITH them as far as we can and then we protect them to go all the way. Only they can go there. Into the depths where their bodies open in the greatest of ways.

Let's not steal these epic moments from birthing mother's. This is the DEEPEST place there is.

My heart swells. The Alpha states have been reached. Music, dance, ocean, trees, community, WILD.. So many downloads while graciously weaving through the forest and standing upon rock and moss while basking in the sparkle of Father Sun and Mother Ocean.

What deep and humble privilege to live here on and in this land. Deep gratitude to those who have come before and tended her.

I asked to receive my cloud of passion and purpose, and as is stood upon the edge of the cliff (I do love edge dwelling) I saw it come to recieve me. I imagined what it would be like to dive free, arms spread wide, into the tree tops and into LIFE.

I am here to serve, I will follow. I hold the INTENTION of service to WOMXN, BIRTH, the SACRED things of the EARTH. The DIVINE FEMININE. She lives within me, she is everywhere, and she knows exactly where we are going. I am your humble servant.

Hello Community! I believe that most of us know each other through the jewellery that I create. Whether we have met at a market, we are part of the same tribe, or we have connected in another sacred way. I am so glad that you are here!

Up until now, this page has been a combination of my jewellery work and my work with womxn both as a doula and pre/postnatal yoga and movement teacher.

It is time for me to separate (again!) and lean deeply into the branding and growth of my sacred jewellery offerings. You will notice this page changing names, growing, and becoming more alive again as I breathe breath and fire into her. I will be (re)creating a new page for womxn's work, which I continue to offer.

I will be sharing more and more on how I came to the new name, my own process, and what I wish to bring to you and this crumbling, humbling, deconstructing, and RISING Earth and it's magical inhabitants.

Hello sweet friends! I am working away on a(nother) rebrand for the jewellery aspect of my business. It's time to grow each - my work with women and the magical gemstone creations.

A little history.. My daughters name is Aluna, and Rose is my heart medicine and I feel the rooted connection to the Goddess in her folds and aroma. We are rooted in the Spanish language as well, lifetimes past and in the now. This is what I am working with here. The Venus Rose is something that I became connected to a few years ago and started to work with, connected to the Goddess Venus, Isis, Aphrodite, and the sweet feminine magic that has been long forgotten and is being re-membered.

I would love your feedback! Favourite names and then, feel free to offer your spin on extra words such as "-------" Jewellery. I appreciate your hearts and knowing how you receive these words.

If we know that trauma can be traced back up to 14 generations, then we must understand how trauma plays a part in nursing.

Imagine your baby being taken from you, used as a servant, fed concoctions of dirty water and cows milk. If they were lucky to survive that, they would have to endure being harmed and/or killed when the person who enslaved you saw it fit.

And also, imagine, having to nurse and care for a baby who’s parents enslaved and harmed or killed your very own children.

A time when white people used to steal enslaved peoples milk.

This trauma is passed down to generations upon generations.

The echoes of enslaved people being forced to give up their milk still fills the air and their body but we are not acknowledging it.

We must acknowledge this and work learning about why the nursing rates for black parents are among the lowest.

Let’s talk about other parts of this:
➖Black babies are dying at twice the rate(in some places, nearly triple) the rate of white babies.
➖According to the CDC, increased nursing among black parents could decrease infant mortality rates by as much as 50%.
➖Black parents are not supported properly in the delicate time immediately following birth to establish a healthy nursing relationship. They return to work sooner to jobs that do not adequately accommodate a lactating parent.
➖And still,racism exists, hurting and hindering the nursing relationship even further.
➖Formula is pushed more on black parents. As if they are not trusted to successfully nurse their babies.

“When left completely undisturbed, there is oftentimes a pause in between transition and pushing. This is referred to as quietude. It's a place where mom can rest. She might sleep and she might find her second wind. It’s important to let this time be undisturbed because what comes next (although exact length varies) is the fetal ejection reflex - where mom doesn't have to hold her breath and count to 10, she just gives in to the process and her baby is born. She deserves that moment.”

“We think in pictures and we should be painting accurate pictures. The cervix nor the va**na bloom. The cervix is not a zip lock bag. The purpose of labor is NOT the creation of an opening or a hole... The purpose of labor contractions and retractions is to BUILD the fundus, which will, when it is ready, EJECT the baby, like a piston. Without a nice thick fundus there is no power to get baby out....the cervix does not dilate out....it dilates UP as a result of the effort to pull muscles up into the uterus to push muscles up to the fundus. The cervical dilation is secondary to that. The cervix is pulled up as a result of the building of the fundus. Assigning a number to cervical dilation is of little consequence and we make a huge mistake by interpreting progress or predicting time of birth to that number. Any experienced midwife or OB can tell you that the cervix can be manipulated and that a woman whose cervix is at 7 could have the baby in a few minutes or a few hours.
If more providers and educators knew the truth about birth physiology, we could make a huge difference for mothers. What is important is to keep her well supported for the purpose of the appropriate chemistry, to keep her well hydrated and nourished for muscle strength, and to believe in her. We should be supporting her so that her physiology and that of her baby are unhindered, so they can finish what they started.
We should not be measuring, poking, or interpreting her labor. THIS CHANGE in teaching about labor could make such a difference for women who are imagining what is happening in their bodies during labor. How much more strength might they have if they have an accurate picture?" -Carla Hartley

I'm now 29 and have 3 kids with my wife Franziska who carried and birthed them all like a pro. Here's what I would tell my childless 24 year old self about how to be a supportive partner during the "becoming parents" phase:
1. Wifey carried baby IN her belly for 9 months. So you carry baby ON your belly for 9 months every chance you get. Not only does it help her recover but it bonds you to your kid more than imaginable.
2. Wifey is breastfeeding and--while beautiful and fulfilling for her--it's exhausting. So you change EVERY diaper you can. From diaper #1 onward. You will get over the grossness fast. And you will prevent imbalances and resentment in the relationship; in fact, when all your wife's friends are complaining about how absent and unsupportive their husbands are, your wife will be bragging about you.
3. Make her the decaf coffee every morning. Even if she leaves it cold and forgets to drink it most mornings because she falls back asleep while you're working or (later) taking the kids to school. She was up all night feeding the baby so help start her day in a way that helps her reset.
4. Tell her she is beautiful and help her see that in the moments when she is feeling most self critical and hopeless about her body. Remind her of times when she achieved goals in the past. Remind her she is a superhero. She literally just moved all her organs around and gained 20 kilograms to give you a child that will be a gift to you for the rest of your life. Help her see past her body image issues and stay focused on a positive goal, one day at a time.
5. Take the heat. Hormones are crazy, both pre and post birth. She won't seem like herself every day and sometimes she will say things she wouldn't say if she didn't feel like she was hungover, caffeinated, and on steroids every day. Remember your job is to be her rock through all of this, so toughen up and keep perspective when her tongue is sharper than you know her best self intends. Normal will return soon and you want her to be grateful that you kept it together when she wasn't, not resentful and disappointed that you hijacked her emotions by making her problems yours.

MAKE YOUR HOSPITAL ROOM WORK FOR YOU!! 💯
My friend and I wanted to show you some examples of ways that your hospital bed can transform and assist you with the progression of labor. 🛏
1. Throne/chair position. This is great for people who are laboring down with an epidural, or for people who just need to sit and take a quick break.
2. Hands and knees. This is a great position for OP babies/back labor. A lot of laboring patients find hands and knees more comfortable!
3. Side lying with your leg resting in the stirrup. This position is great for opening up the pelvis and allowing the baby to move down. Quick note: I would not feel comfortable with my patient staying in this position/on one side for too long. I also would be cautious in using this with patients who have an epidural because they may not feel sensations of discomfort if this position is not serving them.
4. Squatting with a squat bar attached. Many facilities have squat bars that attach to beds. Upright positions can help encourage stronger contractions and help move baby down. Quick note: I would have a support person remain at the bedside to ensure that the laboring person does not lose balance.

I’m not PMS-ing, I’m .

We’ve all heard of PMS; we’ve been taught that right before a person gets their period, they become a mean, irrational, unpredictable ball of crazy. We’re taught that this monthly “illness” is simply a curse we must suffer. It’s time we flip the script and understand that hormonal fluctuations are natural and normal experiences, that we can learn to better understand and mitigate our discomfort, and that there’s absolutely nothing wrong with our bodies or minds.

The average menstrual cycle is about 28 days and the second half of the cycle (beginning right after ovulation) is known as the “Luteal Phase.” In this phase, estrogen decreases and progesterone becomes the star, building up the inner lining of the uterus (the endometrium) and preventing uterine contractions. Progesterone is a natural Va**um; it makes it hard to wake up, causes fatigue all day, carb cravings, and anxiety.

“Feeling luteal” is empowering and forgiving language. While the term “PMS” is loaded with negative imagery, “feeling luteal” simply describes the very normal sensations you would expect a body to experience when it’s flooded with . This terminology encourages you to better understand your body (track your cycle so you know when fluctuations are coming) and reevaluate the sensations you experience without judgement.

The truth is that sometimes our bodies and minds need comfort, rest, and relaxation. What if instead of there being something wrong with us, there is actually something wrong with a society that doesn’t permit us to rest, relax and care for our bodies and minds?

It’s important to distinguish the very common experience of feeling luteal from Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder ( )— from which about 3-8% of menstruators experience profound irritability, anger, anxiety, and/or severe depression during their . If you fee like your symptoms are more than you can handle on your own, seek care from a medical professional.

Feeling luteal is a normal state of being, not a disorder that needs to be fixed.
