Special message from Alexis Marie Chute, Social Media & Marketing Coordinator for the Edmonton Poetry Festival: ⤵️🤩🎉❤️⤵️
It has been my pleasure sharing the local poetry-love on the EPF social media accounts and interacting with so many of you online and in person. Working with the staff, board, and volunteers has been amazing. I’m also grateful to have captured so many special moments in photos over the 8 days and countless events. My contract has concluded for the 2024 festival, but I’ve loved every moment of it. I’m happy to email people pictures of the festival and performances, so please feel free to reach out: [email protected]
I hope to see you next year! Leaving you with a few of my favorite pictures that didn’t make it into other posts.
Signing off for now!

POEMS IN A QUIET POOL: ZEN READING was hosted by Jannie Edwards & Alice Major. The participants each read a poem aloud with no preamble of what the poem was about. They let the words sink in. It was wonderful to hear how themes emerged. It was a nourishing literary experience. Thank you to all who participated.

As we get close to wrapping up our promotions for and reflections of the 2024 Edmonton Poetry Festival, we want to say a special thank you to our graphic designer who created the festival image of water and trees and faces. Thank you Leslie Irvine Design & Marketing!
The beautiful graphic communicated the festival theme of Voices Flow: Collective Current, drawing on the Edmonton landscape.

“My name is Joshua Querijero! I am a student at the University of Alberta and a poet. I was part of the Edmonton poetry festival as a volunteer and as a reader. I enjoyed every single moment of the festival. Everyone was so welcoming and supportive. I had the jitters on stage, but the crowd was supportive all the way. Poetry snapping their fingers to support me and the rest of the readers. I would like to be part of next year's festival. I can't wait and I hope for many years of poetry in Edmonton!”

“As a volunteer and fellow poet, the 2024 EPF was just an incredible experience overall. I really loved having the opportunity to hear and witness so many unique voices from across our wonderful little city.
It was also a great opportunity to explore venues and poetry groups and meet new people I may not have otherwise had a chance to.
This experience showed me how tight-knit the literary community is here in Edmonton and the diversity of subjects, people, and styles our city offers.
The volunteer coordinator Bree, did a great job walking us volunteers through our duties and answering any questions we had. I'm really happy to have gotten the chance to lend a hand with this year's festival, and I'm looking forward to helping out again in the future!
In addition, I just want to pass along my thanks to the entire Edmonton Poetry Fest team for putting on such a great series of events. Y'all did great work.”

“The Edmonton Poetry Festival was the first time I shared my poetry through open mic! It was an incredible experience and felt so validating to share my poem in a room full of diverse listeners. It gave me more confidence in my story and craft. I want to continue sharing my poetry with the world, and I'm proud to say that the 2024 Edmonton Poetry Festival has marked the beginning of this beautiful journey.”

The two events that SWYC were part of were so welcoming and supportive. The teens and young adults in the choir all had a great time and were very excited to participate. Thank you for inviting us to a wonderfully inclusive celebration of words and wordsmiths!”

“I was only able to attend the Edmonton Poetry Festival French Twist event this year, but I had an amazing time and was very moved by this event. From the free entry by donation, to the gorgeous venue, everything was so well organized. I loved all the new people I met and the new friends I made. I loved speaking French! I hope there are many more French events in the future. Oui! C'était merveilleux. À la prochaine.”
