The Great Backyard Bird Count starts tomorrow, Friday, Feb 16th!
https://www.birdcount.org/participate/
Participating is easy, fun to do alone or with others, and can be done anywhere you find birds.
Step 1: Decide where you will watch birds.
Step 2: Watch birds for 15 minutes or more, at least once over the four days, February 16–19, 2024.
Step 3: Identify all the birds you see or hear within your planned time/location....
If you are a beginning bird admirer and new to bird identification, try using the Merlin Bird ID app to document the birds you are seeing/hearing https://merlin.allaboutbirds.org/
If you have participated in the count before and want to record numbers of birds, try the eBird Mobile app or enter your bird list on the eBird website https://ebird.org/home
If you already contribute to Merlin or eBird, continue what you are doing! All entries over the 4 days count towards GBBC.

Merry Christmas!
We’re very excited to have Geff of Eleri Creations at the store tomorrow (Sat, Dec 2) as an artist in residence, working on hand-cut copper art works. We’ve really been enjoying a few of his lovely pieces on the wall behind the til for a few weeks now, I don’t think they’ll last the weekend!
My final event of 2023 is not a market, but rather, as an 'Artist in Residence'. I'll be at the Wildbird General Store on Saturday, December 2nd, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (4712 99th St NW, Edmonton). I'll be working on a few pieces, and there will be wildlife and nature-inspired work available for purchase.
Happy Giving Tuesday!
As we transition from Black Friday to the festive Holiday season, let's take a moment to reflect on Giving Tuesday—a wonderful opportunity to support organizations, individuals, and communities in need.
This time of year is crucial for our non-profit, as the donations we receive play a vital role in sustaining the impactful work we do. Your generosity ensures that we can continue making a difference.
We invite you to consider making a donation to WILDNorth today and throughout the giving season. Your support directly impacts the well-being of our patients, who rely on compassionate contributions like yours.
A heartfelt thank you from all of us at WILDNorth for your kindness and generosity!
