Adorable!!👶🏻🥇
When a baby is nursing our body feels them due to the nerves in the ni**le and breast. Those nerves send a message to the brain that the baby is there and the brain releases oxytocin.
The oxytocin arrives at the breast and makes the myoepithelial cells around the alveoli contract. This makes the milk, which has collected in the alveoli, flow! The baby receives the milk and continues to nurse.
Below is a video of the alveolar cells contracting! So amazing! 😊
You did enough! 🥰
Producing breastmilk takes up about 30% of the body’s energy. Your brain, for comparison, only uses about 20%.
You’re not doing nothing.
This is why you’re so tired at the end of the day.
This is why you’re so hungry and so thirsty.
So, if all you did was feed your baby today, don’t let your mind convince you that you didn’t do enough. You did enough. You did amazing. 🤱

Now that’s a funny photo re-creation! 😂😂
This recreation was so difficult🤪 Me and my father after 23 years
I am spending a lot of time right here in the very early mornings and late evenings.
I have access to the GOLD Lactation 2024 online conference until next week so I am trying to fit in every talk that I can! So much excellent information! 🤩
I am currently living the nightmare of having put milk in my daughter’s sippy cup…and now we cannot find it.
It’s been missing since yesterday at about 6pm. Send thoughts and prayers.

Go Mama!
They can drive you completely nuts all day but man alive when they are sleeping so sweetly….🥰

I was 23 when I had my first baby! You?
It does change things when they get taller than you! Currently 4 of my 7 kids are taller than me…

😄
Yup! 😂
Nursing one of these right now....
Yayy! I got to wear one of my doula shirts to a birth today!
I attended my first birth over 20 years ago...back in July 2003. 🥰
Yes, definitely this! 🎯
Having been in the home of so very many new families as a birth doula and IBCLC and also having had to navigate those tender early postpartum days myself 7 times....we need to wrap the new family in soooo much love and support. 💝
It's a very vulnerable and overwhelming time and the whole house feels a bit shaky as the Mom and baby are very tired and recovering.
Love the family through those early weeks and help a family start strong. 👣❤
Great visual of oxytocin in action, helping deliver milk to our babies! 🤱
Tell me you had a fussy baby without telling me you had a fussy baby....
Aww, this is just lovely! 💖
Mothers take your time and do not rush.
Other things will come soon enough.
There'll be time to sweep the floor and do every other chore and to meet for lunch with friends around the block.
But for now, you're needed here, to wipe the baby's tears, and to sing a tender song as you rock.
Mothers take your time and do not sigh.
The moments are so quickly passing by.
Yes, there's bread you need to bake, and there’s beds you need to make, and there’s laundry that needs washing in the basket by the door.
But don't wish for it to end, for you'll find the truth, my friend, that the house will soon be empty once more.
Mothers take your time and look around.
See all the happy things that now abound.
You have hugs at your right hand, and a joyful ragtime band, and a myriad of art taped to the wall.
One day it will be gone, and you'll somedays feel alone, when there are no giggling sounds down the hall.

Believe what Moms tell you about their babies.
Don't dismiss it, second guess it, or down play it.
Listen to them. They created and love this little one and know them well.
