We accept cash and card but YES we pay transaction fees on every card payment. Not everyone is able to carry cash and that’s okay too! Your support is enough 💗
I know I'm guilty of using my cards more than I should have in the past, it's easy, I'm not worried about having a large amount of money on me, cards are lighter than coins, reward systems. I get it, I truly do.
Here is the other side of card purchases and how it effects' small businesses like mine. It is getting harder by the day to keep our products affordable. Canning jar costs, are double to what they were 3 years ago, all of our operating costs have gone up. We are working twice as hard to make less than we did at this time last year.
When you make your purchases with cash, it helps us more than you may know. When we're not paying transactions fees to the banks, we can reinvest that money back into our operating costs which help us hold our current pricing. In my case that cash I have in hand goes to the farmers I work with for our supplies.
When you're visiting the markets this year, please help us vendors out and if possible use cash to make your purchases. We all appreciate it, but as a society WE NEED IT.
Copies from another page: Why should we pay cash everywhere instead of a card?
1. I have $50 in my pocket. I am going to a restaurant and paying for dinner with it.
2. The restaurant owner then uses the bill to pay for the laundry.
3. The laundry owner then uses the bill to pay the barber.
4. The barber will then use the bill for shopping.
After an unlimited number of payments, it will still remain at $50 in value. It has fulfilled its purpose to everyone who used it for payment, and the bank has jumped dry from every cash payment transaction made.
BUT
If I come to a restaurant and pay digitally via Card,
1. The bank fees for my payment transaction charged to the seller are 3%, so around $1.50.
(and so will be the fee of $1.50 for each further payment transaction)
2. For the owner re laundry or
payments of the owner of the laundry shop, or payments of the barber etc.
Therefore, after 30 transactions, the initial $50 will exist at only $5, and the remaining $45 has become the property of the bank… thanks to all of the digital transactions and fees!
Use it or lose it folks…
Once it’s gone, we won’t get it back!
Cash is king!
