Hideout Distro
Hideout Distro is a creative goods general store for a variety of quality work made independently by Thank you!
Our brick and mortar shop is open as usual with Covid safety measures in place with a maximum of 3 customers in the shop at any time. We are allowing try ons of clothing (all items tired are quarantined for 2 days). Masks are mandatory in the shop, and we provide disposable masks if you don't have one with you. We are unfortunately not wheelchair accessible as our space does have a step upon entry
HNY hunnies 💞 blessed to have spent another year here with you. I love to see everyone’s plans and goals for the year ahead, and part of me thought “I have no idea what to say aside from: I’m thankful.” After some reflection, I suppose the truth is that I don’t know what lies ahead, and what I conjure up in business and in life is fluid and guided by the wind, with what feels right at any given time, with what is being offered, with what I have to offer. There are times of abundance (resources, support, inspiration, drive, creativity, connectedness, energy) and there are times of drought (burnout, tight budgets, no paychecks, self-doubt, fear, loneliness, despair). We’ll go through this flux perpetually - so moving into this new year I expect this and prepare, so that in the high times I can fill my cup feeling gratitude for what is being provided and offered knowing I am worthy and deserving. In the waning times, I’ll know that I have protected my energy and have a saved reserve that will keep my heart warm and tender with myself and others knowing everything is temporary. The start of every year, given the ebbs and flows of this kind of business, is my time of rest and healing. Slow living. Slower business, likely. I am prepared for this, and am leaning into it. I’ll be taking some extended time off soon, meaning the shop will too. I am so grateful for all of the support this past year, the new friendships and connections, the space made for them by letting go of unrequited others, the people who discovered the Hideout around the corner for the first time, for showing up to say hi knowing I value your presence far more than money spent. I hope the wave of 2024 has peace in store, and that we can come together locally and globally to support each other and make big changes.
Much love as always.
Your friend,
Tor
💫🎄❤️ 🙏
Thought I’d get more product mixing and making done on what was supposed to be a productive closed day - however when you run a small business and your people show up, you just gotta do the same. Thankful to the folks for coming by to shop today, and that I was here to meet you 🫶 Every little bit counts!
Nice nice 🤗 shops open, come on by!
The very last Royal Bison market is coming up the next two weekends 😯 This market has been a huge influence on my creative, business and personal life. So many friendships and creative business partnerships were formed because I was able to be a part of this market over the last 11ish years. So many pieces of my jewelry collection were bought and worn by market goers over the first several years, and when I shifted gears and applied with my home goods and fragrance line, I was delighted to have the opportunity to share all of these new developments at the market the last few years. One of the reasons I created Hideout was just how important platforms like and small independent retail were for the success and growth of my creative projects and those of others out there building something. This market was that for me. I’m feeling a little sad as the Royal Bison story ends, but know that new projects will carry the spirit onwards!
I’m madly trying to get the finishing touches done to release my *new* products (I’m excited!!) in time for this next weekend - if not this weekend then the next one 🙂 Either way, I will be showing up fully stocked with my line of candles, bath soaks, and fragrances. Perhaps I’ll get lucky and have my labels in time 🤞 I hope this last season of The Royal Bison is a banger and we get to see all of you!
Just announced the 2024 Stendig for presale - limited quantities so claim one in advance! Arriving end of November/early December. Local in store pick up only 💕
Thanks to my village: Lawrence and Kay for lighting up the tree, Laura for making these beautiful planters, Chris for painting our shop last year, Leith for the signage, Danny for helping with the text vinyl, Ryan for drilling new holes to mount the wreaths, EJ for the window display ideas and helping in the shop lately, the brands and vendors who have been busy making the goods in the shop, my Dad for lending me his ladder and rake, my friends for checking in on me as I navigate the weirdest year to date, my partner Jon for helping me with shop errands, and to all the people who come to shop for gifts and for themselves.
Whadda sparkly little gem 🤩 Thanks to my dear friend and Kay brightening up the shop yard tonight 🙏💛
It’s the calm before the holiday season, which everyone knows is the season that both kills retail shop staff AND keeps the lights on to grind thru the early new year lulls and generally cooool economic climate. At closing time I like to take a minute when I can to appreciate all the experimenting I got to do that day. It’s not easy but it sure is fun and rewarding in the most unexpected ways. Tonight when I locked the door and turned the lights off, I sat on the couch and picked a new window vibe and found a matching peach to the outside so naturally I stopped there. I was complaining to myself about having to print off shipping labels and do a post office run after a long quiet day, but then I realized my pals new wine bar just opened around the corner and I can go give them my money for wine 🤤 A community is full circle! Anyway, if you’ll be buying gifts this upcoming holiday season consider supporting your local small retail a little extra, even if just a card or small item, we all work hard to offer online and delivery for convenience (gotta compete with the big billionaire boys) or if you can/even better - shop a whole bunch of awesome stuff to make your local shops’ (and the makers of their goods) week and cry tears of hopeful joy 🥰 I’ll be sharing some of my favourite local shops/brands over the season in case you need ideas. Anywho I love u all as always!
When the well loved candle trifecta matches the decor ft. Hideout MVPs:
Night Camp - a fragrance blend of oak barrel aged whiskey and campfire.
Golden Girls - floral red rose water and warm honey
Prosecco - a crisp, bright and fruity fragrance with that subtle hint of minerality you get when you sip some delicious bubbs.
Aka refuge aka safe house aka shelter aka retreat aka sanctuary aka lair. It’s warm and chill at the same time. I love having people share this space with me while tinkering about. One of my favourite ways to shop is to quietly take in everything, usually solo, often with a (hot or cold depending on the season) drink to sip. The best is when the music is good, the people are genuine, and there are lots of nooks with nice things that make me feel happy and calm. Anyway, I decided to try and create that in Hideout and I certainly hope that you come visit soon for your own little getaway in here even if it’s a short one. Sending love and light out to you while the light is dim 💛
We love “Lampe”! 🛋️ New artist in the shop Erika Teveniuk coming thru with 3 new + super dope 11x14 prints. These have been in the works for the shop for a while and we’re so happy to finally have em! Thanks bud
We’re open today 12-5 and closed tomorrow (Sunday) for family time. A ton of awesome goods are marked down as we make room in our charming wee shop for new things! You can take a peek on the site or come by for a browse today. Xo
Peach palace sure is cute in the autumn 🍂 if you have books to donate, our little free library gets a lot of action and you might just find a new one to take home. Thanks for hanging out with us this season, it’s been real nice
Fully stocked with handmade quilted accessories, coats and vests for layering up and lugging your favourite things. .designs is an absolute gem and crafts these hi-quality pieces with care. My favourite thing, other than how cute they are, is that Monique uses her leftover cuts from her coat patterns to make totes, Dopp kits, and zip pouches. About as local as it gets, too.
Loaded up with after a full season of growing and drying florals, grasses and pods for bouquets! It’s so cool to see how each growing season changes nature of the bouquet components. The sea holly and flax pods this season went nuts and the fresh bundles we just got from Josephine are so full and vibrant. Love! Adding these and more to the site today.
*Announcement* I’m changing the way I do thingz! Plz read xoxo

My midcentury scent inspo: sunken conversation pits, jewel tones, low light ambience, brandy snifters, teakwood, textures of tweed and leather, to***co, vanilla, and many leather bound books. The era I wish I experienced, or maybe I did in a past life? 🛋️🚬🥃
Me holding pretty things.
Josephine chose cloud grass, flax pods and bunny tails for our custom dome vases for a dreamy minimalist vibe.
Soft matte colourways in our jesmonite incense stick holders from to burn our forever favourite hand rolled incense from .home.

We’re having a sale on our perfumes and incense in anticipation of his rebrand! His beautiful luxurious scents will not change, just the look! So get the goods at a sweet little discount while our stock lasts. 20% discount applied automatically at checkout online and in store.
Our custom made ceramics from artist buddy are here and they’re cah-yoooot! I’m obsessed with the cobalt fade effect on the mugs and vases, and the lil squiggles on the soap trays remind me of the mustard on my hot dogs. Other pieces will be added later next week after we finish an organized collab with another member of our creative fam. 🤭 Love ittt! So spesh!
Soaps pictured are by and are also available online and in store.
