It All Started With a Couple Kinkajous
How it all started with a couple Kinkajous... When I think about it, Lila & Lulu were my first movement teachers. I owe a lot to those 2 chaotic, feisty, demanding, ridiculous, and loveable kinkajous. You know a lot about me but did you know that I spent 2 years as a Research Assistant learning about the functional morphology of the kinkajou???...
🟢 Signs I might be a good fit for you… 🟢
I’m a non-namaste-saying, sometimes-cussing, snorting-laughing, imperfect Yoga teacher.
If that sounds good to you, then 🙌🙌🙌

I can’t be everyone’s favourite flavour of ice cream in the ice cream shop 🍦
👉 Check the next post to see why I might be the right Yoga teacher for you though. 👈
So excited! I just registered for a course that is going to lend so much to my upcoming offerings! And it's NOT anatomy based... whaaaaat?? Do I even do that??
The comment in last night’s class was “I can’t do wheel pose.”
So what did we spend the next 30 minutes exploring?? Variations on wheel 💥
We used all the props (including a chair)!
Sadly I only thought to grab this photo.
killing it! And behind the lens.
One thing we must remember as teachers, is that every pose has infinite variations to it… some will work in one body while not in others. Being able to take time to explore and play in the postures is such a blessing - and it’s super fun!! 🤩

And that’s one of the things that is so miraculous about it.
I’ll leave the Sanskrit to the traditionalists… I know my place 🤷♀️
Btw… Peroneal = structures on outside of calf 🦵
Perineal = pelvic floor structures 🍑
Don’t confuse one with the other (though it’s been known to happen) 😂

Feeling threatened in a yoga posture (physically or mentally) is literally running up against the wall of your nervous system. Tissues tense in preparation for injury, breathing alters to prep for a fight, and awareness shifts to the surroundings of the situation… all completely in contrast to what “we” advertise as the benefits of the practice.
Bottom line, if you don’t feel safe, your body will intervene to keep you safe in the only ways it knows how.
New nervous system & yoga course launching asap. Taking pre-registrations now.

Your students are paying you for your skill set & time. Not for your friendship, your loyalty, or your mental capacity 24/7. These are all beyond the scope of a business transaction. As with any career path, burn-out is alive & well in the Wellness industry (ironic, I know).
And transactions can be ended at anytime by either participant. That’s a good thing. That allows growth and expansion beyond the current transaction.
When you see a student shift towards the teachings of another instructor, don’t take it personally! Chances are, they just needed a change.
And if you decide to move to another studio or a shift in offerings, I hope your colleagues encourage the change and cheer you on!
Sometimes we all just need a shake up. My long-term students know, I done it! Multiple times!!
Your health first.
