As of May 1st, the clinic will have a new address! My Lindsay Street office has been a great space for the last few years, but it’s time for something new. The new clinic address is 24 Market Street in Fenelon Falls (formerly the The Book Lady Bookstore). It’s located across from the Fenelon Library and has loads of street parking available for clients. This new space will be a bit of a work-in-progress for the next few months, but I’m super excited for all the changes and additional services that this new location will provide. Stay tuned and thanks so much for all your support - I have the very best clients!

Wishing everyone a Happy Easter and wonderful long weekend! The office will be closed from Friday until Wednesday as we keep working away on renovations for the new clinic location (all the details will be coming next week!).

For any of my current clients, please let me know if you’d like a copy of your 2023 year-end statements (for taxes or insurance). If you were already on my list, your statement was sent out this morning and should be in your inbox. Happy New Year everyone!

How are you hydrating this summer? With the heat we’re already seeing rolling into July, it’s super important to watch for signs of dehydration and make sure you’re drinking enough. If plain water isn’t your thing, other great options include sparkling water, iced herbal tea, adding frozen fruit or citrus or adding electrolyte drinks (especially if you’re outside and sweating!). When we sweat we lose electrolytes (salts and minerals) and if we don’t keep both our fluid and electrolyte balance in check, it can lead to signs of dehydration such as headaches, fatigue, muscle cramps and nausea.

Our go-to electrolyte mix for the last year has been (especially the Rainbow and Blue-Raspberry flavours). They were kind enough to give us an affiliate program promo-code when we bought all our hydrator and protein powders for our PCT hike. So if you’d like to order anything from their website, feel free to use our code GCHIKES30 for 30% off any online order (valid for both CAN & US sites).

Cheers to a healthy and safe summer everyone!

If you’re looking for a motivating summer read, Built To Move by is fantastic and really informative! For anyone who wants to stay active or may be struggling to get moving more, this book will help. It breaks down the basics of improving practical, functional mobility by giving simple tests to see where you’re at and then provides straightforward recommendations and exercises to help you reach a mobility target. With chapters focusing on hip and shoulder mobility, the importance of breath, improving sleep and training balance, this book highlights easy-to-incorporate strategies (with loads of diagrams) that will get you moving more so you can keep doing the activities you enjoy!

Sandal season is here and it’s important to take care of your feet. Here are two simple exercises you can do at home:

1. Rolling out the plantar fascia (use a tennis ball, golf ball or massage ball) - this helps keep the muscles and plantar fascia of the foot loosened and can help prevent heel pain that can occur when the arch gets tight

2. Tibialis Posterior Heel Raises (with a ball between your heels) - this exercise strengthens the tibialis poster muscle that runs along the back of the tibia (shin bone) and helps support and stabilize your arch

Try these exercises a couple times a week to keep your feet pain-free and happy!

Finally decided to follow my own advice 😉 and got a standing desk adapter! It might just be one of my favourite purchases in a long time. Highly recommended for anyone who spends time at a computer!

The clinic will be officially reopening fulltime on June 1st, 2023! If you’d like to book an appointment, please reach out by text or email and I’d be happy to set things up for you!

I will also be in the clinic for a few weekdays in May for urgent care or any emergencies, as I’m getting organized and updating a few things in the office. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you don’t feel you can wait until June and I’ll do my best to fit you in sooner.

Please note there will also be a new treatment fee schedule for the remainder of 2023. Keep an eye out for the clinic email coming out in the next day or so to see new pricing details.

I hope everyone is having a fantastic spring and I look forward to seeing you all and catching up!

We always knew injuries were a risk with thru-hiking, but this is definitely not how we wanted this trip to end. Graeme’s shin isn’t getting better and is looking more and more like a stress fracture. Since the best recommendations for this is 4-6 weeks of rest, we’ve made the heartbreaking decision to end our PCT adventure and come home. The trail will always be there.

We loved our time on the PCT (even the hard days)! The community and the people make this trail amazing and we enjoyed every second of our time in California. To the great hikers we move met along the way - thanks for the support, the information, the advice and the laughs! We can’t wait to see how your journeys turn out.

The adventure begins! If you want to follow our crazy journey, pop over to . California is already throwing us some wacky weather and beautiful scenery and it’s only going to get better from here!

Happiest of New Years everyone! As we make our way through the start of 2023, please let me know if you need a 2022 Financial Summary for your taxes and I’ll be sure to get that sent off for you. Be sure to get your request in before March as I won’t have access to my booking system once I’m on leave. All the best for 2023!

After a wild drive and almost 2 days without power, we still managed to have a lovely Christmas! Happiest of Holidays everyone and best wishes for a healthy and wonderful 2023!

I just want to send out huge THANK YOUS to my awesome, animal-loving clients! Together, through the holiday raffle, we raised $535 for Happy’s Place Senior Dog Rescue. Thank you to all who donated and came together to help a wonderful cause!

This is the last week to enter the Holiday Raffle for your chance to win a mini Massage gun or massaging yoga ball. Tickets are $2 and all the proceeds will go to help (just look at those sweet faces!). If you would still like to enter but don’t have an appointment before Dec 21, please message me and we can arrange an e-transfer to purchase tickets. Thank you so much for your generosity so far and happy holidays everyone!

It’s official, Graeme and I are going to be hiking the Pacific Crest Trail in March! To help make sure my clients have great care for the 5 months I’m away, I’m looking to connect with local RMT’s in the Kawartha Lakes who will be accepting new clients in March 2023. I’d like to have a list organized by the new year so clients can plan ahead and continue their treatment and maintenance. If you’re a local RMT (and I haven’t chatted with you already) and would like to be added to my referral list, please reach out with your availability and best form of contact and I’ll be happy to pass the information along.

I know it’s a little early, but I hope this will give us more time to raise money for a great cause! This holiday season, I’m holding a charity raffle in support of They are a foster and volunteer-supported rescue that takes in senior dogs and dogs that require special care, ensuring they get to live out their days in comfort and with loving families. Most of you know senior dogs hold a special place in our hearts and we want to help this awesome organization continue their amazing work and give more elder dogs a second chance to find another furever home. So what are the prizes? Some awesome self-care tools from - a mini Massage Gun with 4 changeable heads and a vibrating massage ball. Each entry for the raffle is $2.00 (unload all your extra loonies and twoonies!) and you can enter as many times as you like. The draw will take place on December 20th. Let’s give some sweet senior pups some extra happiness this holiday season!

Unfortunately, due to an increase in recent client COVID exposures, the clinic is returning to a mandatory mask policy for all future massage therapy appointments starting July 6th. This also means that TMJ treatments are also suspended until further notice as I cannot afford to risk shutting down the clinic for isolation because PPE isn’t worn for the entirety of a treatment. I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this causes. Stay safe and I hope everyone is having a great long weekend!

06/18/2022

As of June 11th, 2022, public health and CMTO guidelines have updated their policies for healthcare settings and massage therapy practices. Here’s what clients need to know:

1. Masks - Masks are still mandatory for massage therapy treatments at this clinic.

2. Increased cleaning protocols will continue and hand sanitizer will always be available at the clinic.

3. Pre-arrival screening is no longer mandatory, however please message to reschedule your appointment if you have any symptoms of COVID, or any cold or flu symptoms.

Please note that these policies may change if COVID numbers increase or should there be a significant rise in local cold/flu cases.

I also want to take a moment to thank my clients, who have all been wonderfully understanding and flexible through these complicated and ever-changing last couple of years. Your ongoing support made practicing during a pandemic easy and far less stressful. Thank you and stay safe!

03/21/2022

COVID Masking Updates for Massage Therapy: Although mask mandates are ending today in Ontario, this does not apply to health care settings. The College of Massage Therapists of Ontario has kept this mandate in place for massage therapy clinics (for both clients and RMTs), so please continue to wear your masks to your appointments. Thank you!

02/13/2022

My new favourite tool! Say hello to Mohawk - there’s a good chance many of you will be seeing this soon! Thanks and for a fantastic weekend!

New tools and new techniques! Such a great first day with . Can’t wait for tomorrow! tools

On Friday we said goodbye to the sweetest, bestest boy. PJ (affectionately known as Peanut Butter And Jelly) was our adorable ‘Walmart Greeter’, amazing co-pilot and loveable goofball, that had a tail wag for everyone he met. Even with his dementia this last year, he still lit up when he saw little kids, was offered a cookie or got loved on by the many people he met on his rail trail walks. He was a gentle, happy and beautiful soul and we are so grateful for the incredible 7 years we got to share with this old boy. Our hearts are broken again and our home is so quiet with yet another loss to our furry family, but our pups have left their paw prints on our hearts and we wouldn’t have it any other way 💕🐾. Rest now old friend - we’ll miss you so much 💚

The anatomy and biology student in me finds this so incredibly cool!!! This is a human muscle fibre as seen under an electron microscope. This is what I’m referring to when we talk about fibre direction and scar tissue adhesions. The human body is just so awesome!

A little for this cold and cloudy day. Stay warm everyone!

Wishing everyone a safe and happy New Year! Every year I’m so grateful for such wonderful and amazing clients and the opportunity to be part of such a supportive community💕 Cheers to 2022 being a year of new adventures, good health and loads of happiness!
