Are you nervous about having your blood drawn? 🩸

If you're someone who generally takes your life in stride, you might feel a little embarrassed to admit that you're anxious about a blood test. But many people feel nervous when they have blood taken.

Here are 3 tips to help you stay calm:

1. Focus on taking deep, full breaths before getting a blood draw.
By focusing on your breathing, you can relieve mental tension and naturally relax your body.

2. Take your headphones and listen to music before and during the draw.
This allows you to block out an environment that might otherwise make you feel nervous.

3. Have the person taking your blood tell you to look away before they bring a needle near your arm.

Remember, the person drawing your blood has already seen nervous individuals about to have their blood drawn before. Explain your concerns, and they can help walk you through what to expect.

To have blood work done at our location, please bring your requisition from a New Brunswick physician or nurse practitioner, as well as your Medicare card.

If you do not have a NB health care provider, you can go to www.evisitnb.ca and speak with a physician or NP to receive a lab requisition.
