✨Member Spotlight✨
David Porter is an oil painter living and working in Fredericton, New Brunswick. He has been an Accountant (CPA-CMA), a professional musician, motorcycle racer, dog trainer, rock climber and amateur astronomer. Through it all, art has been his constant companion, to document his experiences and connect with the world around him.
To kick off our Spotlight series, we’re excited to introduce our first featured member, Thushara!
Thushara Premarajan is a trained classical dancer hailing from India, and calls Canada her new home. She is trained in the dance form Bharatanatyam, which signifies the combination of expression, rhythm, music, and dance. Having performed in both countries, she now imparts her knowledge to a few students in Fredericton. Thushara’s deep passion for this art form has consistently nurtured her confidence and vitality in various aspects of life, even throughout her journey as a mother. She has performed classical and semi-classical dances in Canada.
Thushara firmly believes that creativity and art reside within everyone; all it takes is to infuse it with a spark!

During Maggie’s internship with Connexion this summer, she has built and curated the online exhibition Undefined Space. This exhibition presents a thematic selection of archival materials from the Connexion ARC Fonds at the Provincial Archives of New Brunswick.
Selections from the archives have been on display at the Charlotte Street Arts Centre with a focus on highlights from the organization’s early decades. Our virtual exhibition builds on this by emphasizing the diverse range of disciplines our programming has supported, and works that speak to the broader conversation of art as a powerful catalyst for innovation, empowerment and social change.
Undefined Space reflects on Connexion’s long-standing role in fostering artistic expression and experimentation that transcends conventional boundaries. It celebrates artists who have embraced this platform for diverse forms of artistic practice, and spotlights moments of intersection between art and social and political discourse. Together, these themes provide a multifaceted reflection of Fredericton’s cultural heritage and Connexion’s community impact.
Undefined Space will be launching this Wednesday on connexionarc.org !
Join us today for the opening and reception of our exhibition, Across the Threshold, from 4:30pm to 6pm at the !
Through soft sculpture, film, photography, and interactive installation, Across the Threshold invites you into the exploration and reflection of the relationship between nature and our constructed environment.
See you there!🌟
We’ve been working hard preparing our upcoming exhibition, Across the Threshold, which will be on display throughout the entire month at the , from September 5 to October 2!
Pictured are the works of Caitlin Wilson and Nat Cann, whose installation is brightening up the windows, along with Gillian Dykeman’s installation inside the gallery!
Our ✨40th anniversary✨ celebrations continue with the opening of our exhibition, Across the Threshold! Hosted by at the from September 5th to October 2nd, 2024!
Across the Threshold invites a reflection upon the chthonic elements of home, from within the wooden walls and roof of a house to the small creatures of feather and flower that live across the threshold. Through soft sculpture, film, photography and interactive installation, explore the careful relationships between nature and our constructed world. Between the mediums presented, a narrative is built, like the spider’s routes along her web, to walk us through our impact, our heavy tread upon the ground and how we are implicated in the health of our natural environment.
This exhibition presents a selection of incredible works from our members, and we can’t wait to share it with you!

“we are so excited 🌟 for ’s Mending Clinic happening Friday June 21 & Saturday June 22 from 2-7 PM 🧵
Facilitated by Anita Cazzola of Mani D’oro, Mending Clinic is a safe and empowering space to learn how to mend your clothing and textile objects. The process of repair honours disintegration by providing a platform for self-healing; a collaboration between body and cloth.
💫💫
Participants can plan to arrive at Mending Clinic with their garment in need of repair, book an appointment with the waiting room attendant, and then enter the appointment room. Appointments begin with a consultation, discussing how the wound formed on the cloth. The Artist will prescribe a repair approach based on the patient’s skill level and the needs of the garment. The Artist begins the mend, teaching the technique as they work. Participants take their garment home, or into the waiting room, to finish the mend.
💫💫
