Playwright Stephen Massicotte will be joining us from New York City to celebrate the success of the Playhouse's production of his play, Mary's Wedding.

Immediately following the Saturday Sept. 7th 7:30pm performance, Mr. Massicotte will join director Brett Christopher onstage for an interactive discussion about the play and this production.

Our new Youth Recreational Programs are for any kid who has an interest in the performing arts. Whether you are a seasoned performer or have never set foot on a stage, there is a place for you!

Over twelve weeks, students will learn the fundamentals of singing, theatre movement, and acting, and build performance skills, confidence, teamwork, and self-expression. The 12-week session wraps up with a presentation class for family and friends.
Dates: September 14 - December 9, 2024.

🔸 Primary Class (Grade 1 - 2) 🔸
In this 1 hour class, students will be introduced to the joy of musical theatre, and develop key skills in acting, singing, and movement. Centered around finding ways to express themselves and let their voices be heard, this class builds confidence for both on and off the stage! Students will get moving to music in a way that tells a story and builds rhythm skills, build the foundations of how to sing with other people or on their own, and learn how actors project their voices and use emotion.

🔸 Junior Class (Grade 3 - 4) 🔸
This course is designed to develop skills in all three key areas of musical theatre- singing, acting, and movement. Students will spend this 1.5 hour class exploring new singing techniques, learning how to be a confident performer of movement-based choreography, and participating in drama activities to grow as an actor. In addition to theatre techniques, classes will also provide opportunities for students to develop soft skills, including teamwork, confidence, and self- expression.

LOOK WHO'S BACK!

After being towed out of the river and spending a few days in the shop, our beloved shuttle rides again. In the words of our mechanic Cody’s Carts , it's a small miracle that it escaped the incident with only a few bumps and bruises.

Thank you so much to everyone who expressed their concern about the vandalism and to the many individuals and businesses who offered to fix, pay, lend, and help us to ensure that the shuttle would be ready to go for this weekend's Opening of Mary's Wedding. We are immensely grateful for the outpouring of concern and support. Our community really is amazing.

At the Playhouse, we woke up to the news today that, in the middle of the night, someone made the decision to push our beloved golf cart into the St Lawrence River.

For those that visit us, this golf cart means much more than simply a way to get from tee to pin, it allows us to provide shuttle service from the street level to the waterfront Springer Theatre for those with mobility issues. For thousands of visitors, this shuttle is the lifeline to being able to attend our productions. Unfortunately, this simple act of malice could seriously impact their ability to do so.

As theatre makers we strive to promote empathy and understanding for our world.
Some days, it’s harder than others.
