The August 2022 Market Overview is out not for Guelph!

Many may be wondering what affects inflation, increased interest rates, and supply and demand has had on our market. Now more than ever it is a great time to reach out to an agent and ask those important questions. We are shifting more to a balanced market, steering away from numbers we saw in the two years of the peak of the pandemic. What does this mean? With the shifting market we are currently in, many of you may be wondering: how is the rise in Canadian interest rates going to affect my ability to secure a mortgage?

If you are considering a fixed-rate mortgage, know that the minimum for qualifying stress tests has also increased. This means borrows for uninsured mortgages need to meet a minimum qualifying rate of 5.25% of their contract rate plus 2%, whichever is higher.
